Tune Question

Attention Gearheads!!!

The past month or so my 07 Gt has been pinging at WOT. I have Dougs race tune w/ the X2 and the C&L Racer intake. I know this blistering heat wave we are in has something to do with the detonation. I normally use Cheveon or BP 93 gas only. The wierd thing is when I reflash the tune, the ping stops??? Any idea what could cause this? If I don't have bad gas, what would cause this?

Lastly, if I back off the timing by -2 degrees, will I lose any power?? Anyone experience this??

Sorry about the questions, it just seems odd that after I re-load the Race Tune, the pinging goes away.

Thanks for your input

I would back the timing up a little and call Doug ASAP!!

Detonation is not good.
I have 3 different 93 tunes and no pinging at all,And I use all brands of gas.

Has it been extremely hot where you are? Extreme temps would cause a rise in intake temps, which would lead to detonation.

As for losing power if you back off your timing...yes, you will lose some power. But if your pinging your knock sensors are going to retard your timing anyway. And they will probably cut it by more than 2 degrees.
