Thanks, one more question. There are 4 bolts on the drive shaft. I can only reach 3 of them. The 4th is on the opposite side of the shaft. I only have one side of the car jacked up and I can't turn the rear wheeles to make the shaft turn to access the 4th bolt. Will I be required to jack the car up off all 4 wheeles?
You should be able to get a pair of jack stands pretty easy. I don't know the answer to your question, but I found some for less than $40:

OK I figured out the problem with the shaft bolts but now with the bolts removed I can't get the shaft to budge and move aside. I have pulled as hard as I can and hit it with a hammer a few times and it won't move. Did anyone else have this trouble?

Please don't tell me you are sliding under your car with only a jack holding it up. That is just not a safe thing to do!

I have it and had heard it was nosier than the stock. It is louder when I actually shift but personally I like the sound - like a precision watch. Have not noticed more road noise. Had the bushings lubricated when installed since that was causing some problems (noise/binding) etc in reading some other threads
I don't have it installed quite yet. I was unable to get the drive shaft off and it was getting late last night so didn't have time to monkey with it anymore. Thank God I was able to car pool to work today. I will have another go at it when I get home. You would think that the shaft is welded on there with how hard it is to get off. I took the 4 bolts off and marked it for when I it comes off so that I can put it back on straight. I did give up on the hammer idea. I didn't want to pound on it. I'm sure I'll figure it out.
I will give a review when I get it on there. I also have magnapacks coming in the mail and I will review those as well. I am really curious about the "drone".

I'm pleased with my tria-ax......I did have a "Drone/thump" around 2000 rpm in 5th, when the car is pulling under load. I put rubber donuts about 1/4 thick under the mtg bolts that attach to the tunnel. That minimized it. Good luck, also be sure you are not on the positive stops when in gear. B)

Dynamatt man to the rescue
Take that console lid and boot cover off and Dynamat (Extreme) all around the shifter and tranny tunnel - including the shifter handle itself (under the boot of course)....I did this on my '05 GT and my previous '00GT and it really cuts down on the tranny gear noise - don't even hear mine anymore......
Sounds like two of us figured out the same idea on shutting up that loudmouth shifter

Finally to bullittman, you can get dynamat anywhere they sell auto sound stuff. But - this is a big caveat, the stuff is E X P E N S I V E! A four sheet pack may cost around $100 on the street - go to ebay to buy it for a good price. I bought a 10 sheet installer box for $90 (this is for the xtreme) - an awesome deal.

I just used some 1/ 4 sheet rubber that I had for a job around the shop ( Could just mail you a piece if you want) . It's real easy to install. I just poked a hole in the center of each piece, put the car up on stands and removed the two rear nuts holding the shifter, pushed the rubber piece on the studs and reinstalled nuts. 15 min. tops. Every little bit helps.
I finally got the shifter installed and it was well worth it.
Much shorter throw and crisper shifts. There is small amount of vibration but not its not bad at all. I'm also hardly getting any more trans noise either.
When i first installed the shifter for the final time (if that makes sense) it was extremely hard to move. Those brass fittings don't have much give at all. I had to back off the nut that tightens the shifter to the bar that goes to the trans. I was able to tighten the nut snug but not real tight so I just used some lock tight to keep it from ever coming off.
All in all, extremely good buy.
