Total cost of adding a supercharger?

If you took a bone stock mustang and added say, a non-intercooled Whipple, what would the total cost be after adding all the other mods to accomodate it? Anyone who went through this care to give input?

Other mods to accomidate it? If you keep the boost down to where it was out of the box, then all you should look into are better tires.

well, if you did go 10 psi, then i am almost certain you would have to go with the intercooled kit.

Brakes and suspension would depend on your driving style..... tires would be a must and eventually yes you would need a clutch and possibly flywheel although again depending on your driving style, your factory clutch may last a long time.

Oh, I apologize, I was looking at a wrong page. This is the one I would go with, non-intercooled, 6 psi.

You wouldn't need anything else to support that kit except about $500-1k for the install. I would suggest the intercooled kit and a dyno tune. For the money spent it's a much better bang for the buck than the non intercooled kit. For the extra $1000 you get a nice fuel system, the intercooler, heat exchanger and related parts and one mean power increase. Well worth the extra grand. Your stock clutch should hold up for a while with street tires.

But there are a lot of other upgrades I would think I would need to do to handle the power that comes with the IC kit, such as suspension and brakes.

And the list goes on. A blower kit is all that's needed, but of course we all want the other stuff too. I did mention the dyno tune. I consider gauges important, but they don't have to be done right away, but should be. I added my gauges a few months after the blower because the crap's expensive. I don't think there will ever be a day where I don't still have something I ''need to get'' for my stang.

I haven't bought a blower because you never quit trying to get more power once you go down that road. After you get about where you want to be you start breaking stuff. JMO~

I got quoted 5,400 for the non cooled whipple kit and 6,400 for the intercooled kit. This was installed and out the door.

edit: this was also from a whipple dealer

I recently had a non I/C polished Whipple installed at my dealer for $6K including tax. Money well spent.

Would non-I/C set up be ok for daily driving, and what about doing parades? Money is an issue with me, so saving a grand would be good. But if I have over heating problems, it just would not be worth it. Little history for me, I just want more power and that SC whine. I'm not a drag racer looking to get ever inch of HP posible. I just want safe & more power.

I dont want to be at a crazy HP level. Just around 400 would be good for me. I still dont think anyone truly answered the my question. If right now, I had $6k, can I walk into a dealership and say "I want that supercharger hanging on the wall" have them put it in my car, and drive home safely? Or are guages a necessity? Suspension? Tires? Clutch? You get what I'm getting at here? I am asking this because I can spend the flat rate for the SC and install, but when it comes to adding all those other things, I dont think I can do it.

Whipple non-Intercooled system about $ 4895 + install $ 600-850 + SCT Tuner & dyno tuning $ 300-400. That is what I was estimated last month when I tought about it....
Hope this helps

Jason,
Good points that we need to know. I don't know the answer. I've always seen gauges installed with any supercharger, factory or aftermarket. And there will be more weight on front end. I hope to see answers too from those with experience.
