What's the average price to install a tq. convertor ? I believe mine is bad the trans. is slipping when shifting between 2- 3rd. It's at the dealer now because its leaking also, they will cover the leak under warranty but not the trans. due to my mods. If it's bad I'm going with the TCI street fighter. Just curious on install price don't want to get ripped off.

 

I believe mine was $250 for the install. I have no idea if that's a high or a low price, but the guy was recommended to me by another shop.

 

I've heard that it can vary. Any where from 2-400 bucks or so. I'm not for sure on that though, but the tranny does need to be pulled...

 

Sounds about right... I think Adam said he would charge me $300 to swap mine out.

Why would you think it's the torque convertor? If it was bad it should slip off idle as well. According to the service manual the intermediate band may be the problem. There are other parts involved also including a solenoid that may cause a slipping 2-3 shift. It might be wise to have the trans diagnosed before buying a torque convertor for no reason.
