Don't be surprised if you're into that $100k "exotic" territory once you're all done. This won't be cheap! Maybe you can get TMS to sponsor you! We could call it Project
Downforce Horse!
Yes lift will be a serious problem. I'll use an apropriate fron dam, rear 'spoiler (not wing) and check into doing a tray and rear diffusor perhaps. I'll have to see where the mustang's typical problems are. Flying brick, and lift, agreed. It'll also fly w/o mirrors, antenna, everything taped of w/200mph tape, etc, typical slippery stuff.

The car is bone stock and brand new today. As I am going back to school and a full time student, it;ll be slow work, I'm looking at a 3 to 6 year plan. I road raced my motorcycle in the early 90's after coming back from Iraq round 1. Built an awd drag race car for the early 2000's. Now I'm thinking about building a 200 mph clucb street car.

Some more things to think about - these are typically required components for open road course racers aside from the obvious engine, brakes, cage, and aero dynamic mods..

Racing seats, 5 point harness, proffesional on board fire extinguisher system, fuel cell, fire suite (southern CA Timing association require racers going over 200 to wear an aproved 3 layer fire suit), nomex long underwear-gloves-sox, full race helmet, brake upgrades, hand held fire extunguisher strategically located, and obviously tires...

Where did you find that Cd? I could only find it for last years mustang. Interesting that this years ius identical. Do you have the link? It wasn't published in Automobile, Car and Driver, or Road and Track either. I've searched all over the net with Google.. Did you find frontal area? Or lift co-eficients?
.
It doesn't make enough HP to hit 170 stock, no where near. Lucky if it breaks 150 by much.

A supercharger would require an aftermarket tune.

I'm pretty sure the speed limiter has been removed, I could double check though. Yes, the speedo is corrected for the 4.10s.

I guess my hood must be unusually secure, I didn't notice it wobbling or ratteling at all. I made a few runs at about 120, then one at 145 (or there abouts)

For unofficial runs, how do you calculate your speed when you above your speedo's readout, by RPM I guess?

I would really like to get into an official event, to see if I could get into the 150mph club with shallower gears, I believe you have 2 miles to do that, on the salt anyway. 1 mile for the 130mph club. Not sure which would be more difficult! Next time I go out, I may set up some makeshift mile markers, just to see about where I'm at :-)

I'm guessing that I would probably need a different driveshaft if I keep doing this highspeed stuff.

If you have the IUP you can set the display to avg MPH and resetting it will show you current MPH at that moment. It works, I've had mine up to 156.

You could use a hand-held GPS as well.

hm... I hadn't though about that before, I'll give that a shot! Since it averages, I could do a fairly good 1/4 mile average speed, I think that's how they calculate the speed, they average over a 1/4 mile (by time taken to get from one marker to the next I guess), the result should be the same, no?

I read that online in a couple articles months ago. But I have seen it in quite a few places. I do not know the frontal area.

As a point of reference. An E46 M3 has a similar Cd at 0.34, along with far less torque, and a bit less HP than a car with some bolt ons. I cannot compare the frontal areas. These cars can hit 165-170 with the limiter removed without issue.

My porsche 944 has a Cd of .33, but a small frontal area. With 170hp I have hit 150.

As far as the mustang, with the mods listed below I have hit 145-150 in the stang and it was still pulling hard. When approching the drag limit of a car, the speed tends to increase VERY slowly. Like +1 MPH per second or less. That certainly was not the case with the mustang.

I really have no doubt that the stang can do 165-170 no problem with a good intake and tune.

I'm guessing a friend who owns a Dyno, and SCT's pro racer package ought to take care of that.

I'm also guessing headers, hand built exhaust, ported head, cams, intake, throttle body, stroker kit, water/meth injection, and the like will also 'require' an aftermarket tune.
