Too Good to Be True?

Anyone hear of anyone using one of these off-brand turbo kits? You can find them all over e-bay and because im only 20yo and don't have a large budget they seem kind of appealing for a big hp gain. Can someone let me know how reliable these are and how the install was? Here is the link to one of them.

Okay, I just deleted everything because I ended up with a book of material. So here it is short and sweet...at least compared to what it was.

Pros:
Price
The thrill of saying "My turbo Mustang"
One more positive feedback for you on Ebay.

Cons:
Everything else

A 50 trim is a small turbo. If you're looking for power, look elsewhere.
400hp intercooler? lawl
Sounds like a rear mount turbo since you can apparently use most aftermarket manifolds. I'd stop right there. Rear mounts are terrible. They suck at efficiency because of the length the air has to travel, plus how comfortable are you with having your turbo in the rear when its raining, or there's debris on the road?
The number 1 problem with kits like these is FITMENT. There will be issues, I promise you that.

Another thing, you need management. You can't just bolt on a turbo(no matter how teeny tiny it is) and expect everything to flow right. Are you going to add another fuel pump? Injectors? What are you going to tune with?

That $800 sounds like a great deal...until you think of everything else. However, its still LOADS cheaper than any other "brand" kit you'll find on the market. If you've got a grand to blow on the car, consider what your other options are. These cars can be a lot of fun adding some power mods and suspension.

Just out of curiosity, what have you done to the car so far?

You get what you pay for...800 dollar turbo. 2500 to rebuild motor when turbo causes lean. Burn. I dunno bro. I wouldn't

What are you looking to do with the car? You could pick up some gears and a bit of suspension for the $900 you'd spend on a turbo alone.

The responses to this thread are right but for the completely wrong reasons. Looks like a bunch of people who don't have turbo cars. Great source of information.

Just stay away from the eBay kits.

Numbers 1 and 3 i've helped work on and driven, the first especially. The second I personally have put build time into and haven't driven it because it doesn't run yet. I'm not one of the "bunch of people".

No wrong reasons here. I used to have a few DSM's, so I know plenty about turbos. The only power adder I don't have experience with are superchargers.

Yeah that kit looks rather low budget.

If you have got 900 bucks, as mentioned above the FRPP 410 gears are good choice if you have a CAI and tuner already.

The other thing that is relatively inexpensive is an off road H pipe. Taking off those factory cats will help with a more aggressive sound and should be faster as well......at least mine "feels" faster

thanks guys, after doing some research, im looking into 3.37 gears and some suspension. I use my mustang as a daily driver so I have to keep it legal. Snowy Chicago winters are a B#%*& as well.
