Time to buy a CAI, no idea which one!

Time to buy a CAI, no idea which one!
EDIT (10.21):
I just ordered the JLT Series 2 CAI from BamaChips, together with the correct tune for XCal2.
Thanks everyone for your votes and comments!
So far, I'm sure it won't be one that doesn't require a tune, because I already have an XCal2.
Another issue is I need a CAI that I can easily adapt to my CDC shaker. This means a good heat shield that can be drilled to accomodate the shaker tube.
Finally, I don't think (please correct me if I'm wrong) that I need a "racer" CAI, since the car is my daily driver, and not a 1/4 mile racer. I simply want more "oomph" out of the engine.
So, should I spend $369 on the C&L Trueflow CAI, or is the $185 JLT II already worth the money? (both prices are from BamaChips, Doug has already provided the tunes so far and I plan to stick with him).
The BamaChips website claims gains of 28-32 rwhp from the JLTII+tune, and for only $185 it sounds great to me.
What did you guys gain from the C&L Trueflow + tune? it can'd be much more than 30 rwhp, I suppose.
As a side not, I really like the MRT filter housing and I was hoping to find something similar for a CAI, but I guess it can't be done with a conical filter.
Please vote and/or comment. Thanks!

Well, I was going to say GMS w/MAF, but it might not be for you... I don't think that the Xcal is calibrated for it. You could sell it, get the GMS and then buy the Fuego tuner that is supposed to be released in early November

Both the C&L and the JLT prove to put down the same gains. So they are both the best on the market, its really up to you on what you want to spend. One CAI is made different than the other, one is made of aluminum (c&l) and the other is made of PVC Plastic Tubing (JLT). I have the C&L and I bought it used off ebay and I've loved it ever since. I bought the C&L cause the price was right and I just like the way it looks better than the JLT.
cant go wrong with either one. the only one I dont see working with you shaker is the JLT, cause the JLT does not come with a heatshield. You can buy one separately from JLT but from the pics I've seen, the box is very small and the chance of cutting a hole in the airbox is slim...

dont mean to hijack the thread, but i was kinda wonderin the same thing. What is the diffrence between the C&L Racer and the JLT, they both seem to use the plastic tubing. Does anyone think one would be better than the other?

Thanks for the advice, Maverick!
I have 2 remarks to your post:
1. The JLTII kit is cheaper than the C&L on BamaChips' website, so the price criteria still favors the JLT so far.
2.
From the same BamaChips website:
It looks like BamaChips sells it with the heat shield. I don't remember having seen any pics of it, how small is it?
Thanks.

This kit includes all needed hardware, JLT pipe, heat shield and S&B air filter.
Thanks.

Hey Louie,
You can see the JLT shield here: http://jlttruecoldair.com/zencart/in...efc0a666fb944c
I got the C&L based on durability and looks. Just seems to me the C&L would last longer, but that is only my opinion. Don_W did this with the c&L and it looked great. Just tried searching for a pic on this site and couldn't find one...maybe they went away with the crash. Seems to me the JLT shield may work. Maybe because the C&L has the rubber pieces on top to seal it against the bottom of the hood makes it look bigger.

Alex, thanks for the pics.
It seems that adapting the shaker tube to the JLT shield will require a little fabrication, but I think it's still worth, having regard to the price difference between the 2 CAIs.
