For those of you with Bama tunes
What is the real difference between the Torque, Performance and Race tunes at 93 Octane? I've read their website but I'm curious about feedback from those of you who actually have these tunes. I'm getting ready to order a CAI and tunes with an 87 performance tune and at least two others but I'm wondering if there's enough of a difference between the 93 tunes to order all 3 (race, perf. and torque).Dave

If gas prices aren't that much of a problem, definitely go with the 93 tunes. There is only going to be a dollar or two difference every time you fill up. The 93 tunes are a big improvement over the 87 tunes. When I bought my tuner from Doug, I got a 93 race, 93 performance, and a 87 torque. I wish now that I would have gotten all three as 93 tunes for a couple reasons. First, it's a pain to run the tank to nearly empty to switch between the octanes to switch to the 87 tune. Second, the difference in performance with the 87 is less than the difference with the 93 tunes. To be honest, I love his 93 race tune so much that I only tried the other two tunes once or twice and never went back to them. The good thing about Doug is that if you change your mind on the tune, he will probably send you another tune for free.

93 can be hard to find around here sometimes, so we went with the 91 race tune. Friggin' awesome. From what I read, the performance tune is a bit more mild than the torque and race tunes. The main difference between the torque and race tunes is the accelerator. On the race tune, the accelerator is more touchy. But a day of driving it, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

My car is a daily driver. I ordered a 87p, 93t, 93p. If I had it to do over again I would have ordered 87p, 93t, 93r. There is not enough difference in my opion between 93t and 93p. On the street as a daily driver I tend to prefer 93t over 93p.
The 87p will be used if I travel and can't find 93 octane or if 93 octane becomes too expensive for me to use.

There is a difference between the 87 & 91 tunes for sure.
Personally I felt little if any difference between the two 91 tunes (P)(T) just differences in the power applied at what RPM.
The 91 Race tune, however, is just more responsive. Nice Torque throughout the RPM range.
Personally I will only use 2 tunes and 2 tunes. 87P for times when 91 is not available and 91R the rest of the time.

Whatever you decide... Make sure you get the 93 Race. Personally I got the 87 performance(just in case), 93 Torque , and 93 race . It really doesn't matter what the other two are as I am confident that you'll stay with the 93 Race .

Here in NC, we have 87,89,93. Is an 89 tune worth getting, or is the 93 much better. I was thinking of doing 87 perf, 89 torque, 93 race. Should I get 89 race instead of 89 torque, or should I get 93 torque instead of 89 torque?

The torque tunes have more low end grunt which sacrifices a little power up top while the performance and race tunes are all about power at WOT and 3k+ rpms. The race tune, like someone else said, gives a more responsive throttle.

Is there any difference in the 87oct tunes Perf, Torq, Race?? Is it true that you would get better MPG with 87perf tune over any other tune? Why would anyone get 89 or 91oct tunes except for availability of gas...those are considered mid-grade here in Tampa. 87oct for expense and 93 for perf/race....why mid-grade?

Sorry about the semi-vague answers but I don't want to be responsible for any misinformation about Doug's tunes. I'm sure he'll chime in sooner or later.

Torque tune = good take off and then it wears off
Performance tune = OK take off but it picks up after 2-3 gear shift
Race tune = good all around tune, awesome take off and it keeps pulling till the end

93 race
93 Torque*
*because you have to really brake when getting into turns and then you have to get the he!! out of the turn quick and back into the next, you need the push that the torque tune gives you. Just enough to get you out of turns and not run so fast you can not brake fast enough to get into the next turn

The 93 race tune also has more grunt in the lower, middle and upper RPM ranges and not just at WOT.. it's also considered as a combination of both the 93 Torque and Performance tunes in which provide the additional throttle response..
