? for those who installed trunk release switch
I don't know why, but I have delayed doing this mod for quite a while, and I really should do it soon. I have all the parts and have confidence I can mount the switch, check the wiring, do the soldering, etc.
But...I have to get at that white wire with the pink stripe. I'll try getting to the wire bundle under the door sill cover.
How do I get the thing off without ruining it? I remember the problems I had with my '96. The covers were on there semi-permanently.
Do you start at the forward edge and pry up towards the rear? Heat them up first? (I have some pretty good Nylon prying tools, and Bondo spreaders).
Then, getting it back, slip the rear end in first and press down on the part that has the adhesive under it? Any chance for misalignment problems?
Sorry to be a sissy about this, but everything in the car looks great and I don't want to screw this up. Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

I got to the wire at the front of the fuse box. The door sill just pops off and then the Passenger side wall comes off next. Mine just pop off with finger pressure. Wire mine to a SOS cup panel.

Sorry Darrell, I'm not reading you. I'm sure you don't mean the fuse box under the hood.
There is an access panel on the passenger's side foot well. Two wire bundles are in there, but trying to find that white/pink wire doesn't look too easy. Any hints would help.
Thanks.

Actually I think there are 3 bundles of wire at the passengers foot well fuse panel. I untaped a small section and just hunted down the white/pink wire. All you need to do is short out the wire with a ground. I used a montenary switch, one wire to ground and one to the white pink wire. Took me about 30 minutes to do.
Here are the directions I used.

Thanks again Darrell. I did have your writeup some time back. I will try doing what you show in the photo to find that wire. I have all the rest of the stuff needed. I'm using a Ford button that has TRUNK RELEASE printed on it.
If I manage to get it in and working, I'll post a pic.

I tapped the pink wire on the fender side of the fusebox under the hood, it was easy to find and get to, just a hot wire from the battery through a mamentary switch of choice, I too used the SOS cup panel
