Anyone super scared like me to potentially trash their warranty and used the recently released C&L Street CAI with the no-tune insert? Comments?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I'm all in. How can it trash your warranty? Doesn't require a PCM reflash, so when you need to take your rig in to dealer for warranty work, remove C&L CAI, pull MAF sensor, re-install stock tube & box, and reinstall MAF sensor in stock unit.

Gotcha. I fall into that category. For some reason, dealers out here in CA are real sensitive about aftermarket mods (especially CAI w/ tunes). This is the exact reason I'm going with the no-tune option. Although others have posted dealers cannot tell if you have reflashed PCM (after putting back stock tune), I have heard contrary stories that they can. I just figure while under warranty, why risk it (here in CA at least). I'll just put the stock intake back on if warranty service is needed. I can pull out the insert and buy a tuner after the warranty expires.

According to Lee @ C&L the no-tune insert will be available to ship end of this week, early next week. If you'd like a price, give me a shout via PM or phone!

You will NOT go wrong with either CAI and PROMISE that you would not be able to tell which one is under the hood from a performance persepective. Which means you need to look at "other" factors to make up your mind:
1) Looks: C&L wins with that very nicely shaped aluminum intake pipe. The JLT looks nice, especially color matched, but it doesn't have quite the quality impace that the C&L does.
2) Cost: JLT2 wins this one pretty easy. Then again, the C&L isn't THAT much more expensive either.
It is all going to boil down to what YOU like and what YOU can afford. But you won't go wrong either way. Just be sure to get the X-Cal2 and tune it! You will LOVE the difference a tune makes, even without a CAI. But with it...

I have the same question as the original poster. What makes the C&L/SCTII combo worth $75 more than the JLTII combo (as per Bamachips)? I do like the looks of the C&L a bit better, but I seldom open the hood to stare at the engine, and I don't actually "show" the car, so what am I getting for the extra money? Also, what is the deal with the aluminum and plastic versions of the C&L. What are the advantages of each? Thanks for your input.
