Test drove stang, questions
I test drove 2 mustang gt's and they both make this weird noise every few seconds, apparently it's the A/C, what is that noise for though, no other car does that and can it be fixed, i found it quite annoying. Besides that the car was fun, and can't wait to find the right one.
I noticed this last weekend - driving thru an area that had poor radio reception so I tunred it off and could hear the AC compressor clicking on and off - keep the radio on so you don't hear it.
Why worry about the air compressor noise? Once you buy a GT you're going to dump the stock exhaust and put on Magnaflows, Flowmasters, SPLs, Bassani's, or whatever. After that all you'll hear is the sweet sound of muscle.
If you do not like the noise, buy a convertible and move to an area where you can have the top down most of the time. That way, you will never have to run the AC and the noise will not bother you.
Just kidding!
Enjoy whatever pony you end up buying!

Seriously though people it shouldn't be as loud as it is. Just because the Mustang is a muscle car doesn't mean it can't be refined. I never heard the air compressor in my old 03 Accord Coupe. I also don't hear it in my Dad's 97 Cougar XR7 V8 so why the heck does it have to make noise in my 05 Mustang GT.

Ford (or the compressor supplier) should come up with a new clutch for this thing, and retrofit them for us.
That being said, it certain doesn't stop me from using it. The Flowmasters are much louder anyway
I must have a good one, because I've never noticed it as being objectionable at all. And I drive without the radio all the time, to hear the engine and mechanical noises the car makes. B)
But if refinement is what you're looking for in a car, a Mustang isn't the best choice. Yes, the Accord is more refined in regard to quietness, but at the cost of a lesser engine, transmission, suspension, tires, wheels - basically all the performance items.
