please no ratchet shifters!!!
gates rule!!!
i have never seen a ratchet shifter that didn't jam up at just the wrong time and anyway gates should be much easier to make.
i like the looks though it's better than the b&m. maybe offer the pistol grip too. i had a TCI shifter in my s/c dragster a while back and it was very nice plus i currently use a custom TCI converter in my 06 auto GT and it's awesome but i'd like an 8" with the lockup and also a transbrake for the 5R55S please

I would like to see a combo of this one and the B&m one. I like the fact that th TCI uses the stock surrounding so you can still use the Silverhorse Racing Billet. But the handle and such is to tall and bulky looking. And what is the two hole gizmo for?

That's the lift-release for the ratchet mechanism. You pull it up to release the lock so you can move the shifter.

Take a look at the mechanism in this shifter pic. It's a little more clear about how these types work:

So you have to lift that every time you want to shift? Or is this only to say Take it out of park and into drive? If that is the case I wonder why they have those ***** on the side of the shifter handle without them being function able.

The pull lever should only be needed to get into and out of park and reverse... As to the bumps on the side of the shifter, I think they're probably cosmetic in nature, but to me they look like an ideal location to mount a couple of switches... A little drilling and tapping, and you can mount a switch in each of the "hammerhead" bumps. O/D on-off, line-lock, trans brake, nitrous purge, nitrous activate, whatever your heart desires...

Personally, I'm sold on the TCI shifter... I like the big, beefy look to it, particularly with the shift boot...

Does ANYBODY have pricing and availability info on this yet?

I wonder how they get past the trans computer. Just shifting into a different gear doesn't mean the car won't override you if you hit the factory limits. I guess this means we'll have to tweak the shift settings, too, during install...otherwise I see a lot of fighting between the computer and me.

Now that I think about it, the TCI shifter looks a lot like a butcher basting syringe. Not wild about the handle at all.

Still, if it works, that's something.

You can put the car in any gear you want and it will hold until you manually shift it out.

Alright, I'll just go downstairs to the garage and have a go. I'll put the stock in to 1st and floor it down the road. Any guesses what will happen?

Could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the car's comp isn't gonna let me do that just because I changed the ****.

Looks like someone hasn't read their owners manual.
