Steve: you might be onto something. Mercon-V is a slightly more friction modified formula than Mercon. The TR-6060 in the GT500 is supposed to use Mercon-V. Most of the Mercon-V spec ATF's are now backwards compatible with Mercon (like Mobil 1 ATF).

I run the syncromax all year in temps as low as 20* and have no problems at all.

Thanks, just picked up 4 quarts. Tranny's coming out 1st week of December for a clutch and f/w swap (CF Dual Friction/Fidanza aluminum) along with inspecting the synchros. I'll get them to re-fill it with the Synchromax.

I used a hand pump and poured in ~3 qt (slightly less than 3 qt). I've read that in the past, the 3650 will react negatively to too much ATF but I have never heard of the 3650 doing the same with less ATF.

Service Manual calls for 3.6 liters which should put it about 1/2" below the fill hole. You're running less than 2.8 liters. Not sure if that matters...

The service manual and owner's manual calls for 3.0L at least for the 2007 MY. What year service manual are you using? The older 3650 manuals call for 3.6L and filling up to the hole. They have since then lowered the hole location and reduced the fill requirement to prevent shifting issues. Too much ATF in the 3650 will cause problems.

I have a service Manual for 05/06 dated Jan 06. Attached are the General Specs and Filling/Draining Instructions. So you're saying some of the design of the 3650 has changed from 05/06 to 07+? My 06 Owners Manual only states to fill 1/2" below the fill hole, it doesn't state the total volume that's supposed to go in there.

My 07 FSM says 3.6L, my 07 owner's manual says 3.0L (mercon ATF)

There's a lot of conflicting info out there for the 3650. I am using slightly less than 3 qt of Redline High Temp ATF in my 3650.

The 2008 owner's manual says 3.0L of Mercon-V ATF for the 3650. I recall the 2001-up 3650s using different capacities and being filled with Mobil 1 ATF at the factory.
