Suspension install
Suspension install
Finally got all my parts for my suspension upgrade: Koni STR.T shocks and lstruts, GT500 strut mounts, Eibach pro-kit springs, and eibach camber bolts. My question is: do you recommend going to a shop to get these parts installed? Or is it something I can do with my father in law? He has some experience working with trucks in the army but he's not a mechanic and I have some knowledge also but I'm no expert. What's u all think? Or do you have any links, manuals, etc that can help?
If you have a shop manual and a spring compressor, get to it. That is unless you have a vert then I would say take it to a shop. I was able to do mine but it's a pain if you don't move the support brackets that come with the verts. Other than that it's pretty easy. First step was to install the springs on the struts with the compressor then install the strut mounts. The fronts are easy and the rear even easier.
Like I said I installed mine without the eibach camber bolts. I used the GT500 mounts and they are recommended for lowered cars. There is a notch in them and they face outward for street and inward for race. That's what I was told by a friend (an older gentleman not a kid) who's had many Mustangs and he does his own work too. I installed them with the notch outward and my camber was right on, when I had an alignment done nothing had to be adjusted as far as camber goes. The toe in was off a bit but that's because I didn't measure the tie rods correctly.
Good Luck,
Alex
