How many are waiting for that 3yr/36,000 miles to be up to s/c?

 

I was actually going to go ahead and do this this winter, and not worry about the warranty, but I've now gave up the S/C idea. Going to keep it natural, and do motor work down the line.

 

Isn't it 60k now


I've got lots to do before I go to supercharging. I think I am going to get all the stuff done I want to for the car, and when I get bored, its Whipple time

 

I waited..... until I got to 11K miles LOL! I figured it like this...... depending on the dealer, some will void your warranty for a cai and tune. That being the case, although some mods are more likely to slideby without catching too much attention, there is no gaurantee that they won't void your warranty for something little- so may as well go big and do what you want.

 

I dunno. At first I was leaning heavily towards getting a Roushcharger. The plus of getting one of those is that it is under warranty. But then alot of folks kept singing the high praises of twin screws. I like the Saleen but don't want to have to lower the engine just so I can close the hood. Whipple and KB are very expensive (intercooled). I have a centrigal s/c now and don't want another on my new car.

I may just go the CAI route with gears and exhaust and keep it naturally aspirated. I've got time to mull it over.

 

Who gives a crap about the warranty. After 5,000 miles any serious engine issues related to defective parts and labor will have surfaced. Is not enjoying the car by modding it how you please worth a 5/60 warranty that you most likely WILL NOT need?

 

I have Corsa exhaust, bamachips tune, C&L CAI, and 4.10 gears. It's not enough

 

I jumped in at 2500 miles.

 

I think thats on '07(?)+ I own an '05.



I personally have to wait awhile. My Ford dealer and Ford Co are trying to figure our a clicking sound my engine is making at idle and running through 1st,2,nd and 3rd gear. Its not a loud sound, passengers dont notice it, I do. At idle it comes and goes. But yeah its a mystery so far. They had it opened up down to the cylinders and found nothing out of the norm. But its gotten alittle worse so they are gonna check it out Thursady I believe .

But yeah, I guess your right. Then again at 5k, I dont really consider and engine completly broken in. How many of you with s/c beefed up the internals?

 

Might be the cam phaser...

These engines at 5k are COMPLETELY broken in. These aren't the 302's of the 60s. Think about it man.. the GT500 *ships* with an 8 PSI blower. All before break in.

 

1 year and 12k miles, and I am ordering my S/C this week

 

Warranties aren't worth the paper they're written on. If something serious happens they WILL find a reason to not pay for the work.

 

Warranty shmarranty... a little extreme of a situation, but you get the idea:

"My transmission is slipping and I'm still under warranty."

"You have axlebacks that caused the problem."

"Have you heard of the Magnuson Warranty act?"

"No."

"It states that the problem in question needs to be directly caused by the aftermarket part."

"Your axlebacks create more power, which blew your transmission."

"My lawyers will be calling you."

"...and? They can talk to all 400 of Ford's lawyers. Read your fine print, jack ***."

 

Not to sound rude but I hope your wrong. Although I know if Ford can save a buck here and there they will



Originally they thought it was a bad lifter so they immedialty said they were gonna open her up and double check before they ordered. When they opened it and investigated some they "saw" nothing wrong and continued to go in more. I did my own research and gave them a printed TBS about the variable cam timing which had all the problems I had WHEN i had them and they said that was checked. I mean the tech im dealing with who also happens to be asst service manager has been extremely helpful and curtious. But being nice wont fix problems. So we'll see how Thursday goes for me. I honestly just wish they FIND something broken to fix it.

 

Whip it, whip it good ...

I just waiting for the right moment to spring this idea on my wife. She will surely question why do I need 470 HP to drive 20 miles to work in stop and go traffic.

 

Ford just replaced (last week) the complete engine in my brand new 07 that had less than 500 miles on it when I dropped it off for a motor noise. Good thing I hadn't installed the Hellion kit yet!

Turned out it was a wrist pin.

 

Mine doesn't have that low of miles but Ford has already said I may end up with a new motor if the problem worsens and performance is hindered.

 

That's about as uneducated a statement as one could make.

 

Ya know,
I was waiting but an going with laughing gas instead...
Plus I can uninstall it for warranty work.

 

I'll be putting in a Saleen next year. My warranty will be up in May 2008, but that's not the reason I waited....finances dictate I wait.
