I've narrowed it down to Whipple and the Procharger. I would like some feedback on the Whipple whenever someone get's one...I still want to see what boost the 3-valve will take.

I have talked to Saleen a few times about their unit. I believe it is the most "reliable" unit that you can install. They use this super charger on their 400hp Saleen model and still offer a full 3/36 warrantee. I am sure that it is a little de-tuned to be on the safe side with the non-forged internals.

When they unveled thier 500hp model ( the "E" Model ), they said it does have forged internals. This would indicate that at 500hp you certianly need forged internals to have long engine life.

I am sure that Saleen has put a lot of research into super charging the 05. Since they have to provide a full power train warrantee, I think the "safe" limit on the stock internals seems to be around 400hp.

If I do add a SC, it will certianly be the saleen unit.... I also like the fact that this unit preserves the stock intake and is EPA legal. I think that a car might fail a smog test here if the SC intake does not have the carbon trap in place. Here in GA, the clean air police are getting very strict....

I am 99% sure, now, that I will be buying a ProCharger - and from Chris at Blow By Racing Just need to see how and when.

Since I spent over 45 mins on the phone just waiting for someone at Saleen(on different days too), I dont want to be in voice mail heck when I need support. At least smaller shops like BBR, XLR8Racing, etc, can be reached for direct help from experience. There is alot to be gained from customer service.

Timing and support are my points at the moment.

1. Whipple is a "couple" of months out from having it ready. Based on everyone elses "couple" of months, who knows when that really means.

2. Whipple has a good rep, from what I have read and have been told, but I do not know anyone I can ask for support for tuning issues.

3. Procharger, from what I can tell, has a straight forward install, pore-tuned kit, little changes to the stock engine.

4. Procharger can be remove faily quickly for the sale of the car or work at the dealer.

5. Chris at Blow By Racing has always been very supportive of any questions i have and sells the Procharger.

6. There are some other support persons, in this forumn, that will have direct expericence with install and tuning of this S/C (Michael Freedman, Crash, BBR, ?).

I am sure there are more, but this is what comes up right now.

Never had any problem reaching Saleen, However, If you could not reach them I can see why you might not want to go with them.

The only thing I did not like about them was the "you better buy it now" sales pitch...

all blower kits are tunable via diablosport or sct. just cause the kit comes with a predator doesn't mean you have to use it. i acutally called today to find out if in fact you had to pay for the predator with the pro charger kit which i totally would not do. i was told today by procharger that you can only buy there kit right now with OUT the predator cause they don't have the kit tune ironed out yet. i would never run a mail order tune that came with a kit anyways...every car is different you always should get on the dyno!!!

I would never run the canned tune either. However, I need sometype of tune to be able to drive the 90 miles to get it dynoed/tuned.

If I get the ProCharger, I plan on installing their tune, driving upto my tuner and having him tune it using my existing XCal (or soon to be XCal2).

With the gearing in the auto tranny I don't believe the Whipple will be a good choice, especially with a lower gear in the back (numerically higher than the 3.31's). However a step down to say 3.08's might work great with it.

The only other thing I will say is do your research first on the Procharger and I'll leave it at that.

Thanks Mike

That would be some of it. I know I sound like a Procharger basher, but I got burned badly 3000 plus badly so they are not on my good side. There are satisified owners out there, but I like to warn people to do their research first. If I had done my research I would've saved myself alot of money and headache's !!

Just to throw a positive on it. I do like the air to air intercooler although a air to water is better. I also like the 8 rib and the fact that the blower is standard rotation. The self contained idea is awesome but I have seen way to many leaks. I think they should make that a option.

Just my opinion and experience...

Thanks Mike

Alternative auto is running the vortech on his auto with out the intercooler. He is very knowledgable about it, and how it works with the auto.
