Just running the canned tunes that came with it. I bought it from RPM Outlet. I tried all the pre-canned tunes (87 octane, 91 octane, firm shifting 93 octane). Best ET's were with the 93 octane tune. I spent a day at the track bumping the spark up each run netting higher and higher trap speeds until the car went slower (detonation), then backed it down several degrees to be safe. When I installed the JLT CAI, I selected the airbox revision that came with the tuner for the JLT.

I know I left some power on the table by not having a major tuning company (i.e. Brenspeed or Bamachips) work their magic, but this is the first tuner I've ever bought and did not know any better at the time.

The Vortech 8 psi blower at Brenspeed is polished, non-intercooled, and rated for 420-430 rwhp (roughly 500hp at the crank) per Brenspeed. My wife has taken a keen interest in my rationale for each of the blower kits I've considered, and this one fits our budget and my need-for-speed better than anything else I've looked at. This kit comes with an SCT tuner with custom tunes for the intended application, so I'll feel good knowing that Brenspeed can tune it to my needs. I prefer a conservative tune to all-out max HP, as this car is a daily driver, and I'm only shooting for consistent low 12's in the 1/4 mile. If it goes faster, then great, but low 12's is all I'm looking for to strike a good balance between daily driver and weekend warrior.

Sounds like a good plan. You'll be amazed at the throttle response from Brent's tune too.

Little input. I just got my car back and wow... The car is completely different. Throttle response, the feeling when boost puts you into your seat and the feeling of endless boost(or what it seems like when your almost at redline).

You wont be dissapointed. I haven't even gotten on it all that much yet. Its alot to take in. But 100mph comes are you like nothing. You want to go 100 you just push the pedal and bam, your there! I'll do a formal write up later and pictures

JonCo, thanks for the update. Nice to know you're happy with the Vortech blower. My wife is totally on board with me placing my order now, so it's just a matter of deciding who to buy from at this point. I've decided I don't need the HO model like you bought, as I'm looking to stay simple & conservative with my daily driver. Plus, the standard model fits my budget better.

Tom281, I'm having some second thoughts about Brenspeed. I've heard nothing but praise for them, but have been asking them questions and not getting the answers I was looking for about the system I'm looking to buy. I've also been speaking with Page at Stillen about this same system, and their offering looks attractive, too. I hate having money to spend, and unsure where to spend it!

Call Brenspeed and ask for Seth. I have called and talked to other people over there that couldn't completely answer my questions but Seth is always on it...

Thanks, S/B. Seth is who I've been corresponding with. Knowledgeable? Yes. Willing to tailor a supercharger system to my needs and request? Unsure - the jury is still out.

I just went HO for added saftey with the aftercooler. Still running mild numbers, IMO. I know I could easily be pushing more then what I am currently. But I'll settle for this for now. Ultimate goal for bragging rights is 450rwhp/400rwtq at a safe tune.

Seth @ Brenspeed was helpful with me when i was talking to them about blowers.

JonCo, the inter or after cooler makes sense to allow for bigger boost, so I can certainly understand why it's so popular. I owned a turbo car a few years back that was intercooled and made 15 psi. I'm sure it would have suffered a meltdown without the intercooler.

Since my 07 is a daily driver, and my goals are conservative (low 12's, daily driver, some drag racing), I only need about 360-380 rwhp to get what I'm after. 7-9 psi is plenty, and should be safe without an intercooler with a conservative tune.

Plus, my budget is being stretched by doing any supercharger. If money was no object, I'd build a stroker motor with forged internals, and add a big boosted intercooled blower. But for now, the non-intercooled Vortech 8 psi system is my best option for my circumstances. Later, should money allow, I can always add an intercooler, more boost, and better tuning.

I am so thankful for the advice I've received from everyone. Even if I don't take anyone's specific advice, please know that all the advice has helped forge my decision and is very much appreciated!

Well, it's ordered! Just got off the phone with Page at Stillen American Performance. Customer service and responsiveness to my questions was top notch, and pricing was very competitive. Thanks, Page!!!

I ordered the Vortech V2-SQ standard S trim centrifugal supercharger system. I picked the satin version to better match the satin billett pieces I've already installed in the car. Vortech rates it at 420hp at the crank, which should translate to about 360hp at the tires. Plenty of power for my goals.

I won't be top dog with this conservative set up, but I'll definitely be very happy to be running with the pack, so to speak. I predict that this blower with my current mods should yield 12.30's at 111 mph in the 1/4 mile.

Thanks again to everyone for their advice, and especially Page at Stillen for making this very affordable and easy! Now, just gotta wait on that big brown truck to get here!

Hey Five Oh Brian,

Not a problem at all. Here to help when I can. Once you get the SC installed, you will have to shoot some pictures and send them to me - the whole car of course

Dont hesitate to call (866-278-8287 x134) if I can be of any help

Five OH, this is just the start. Believe me you will want more BOOST soon. Having an S/C is like the ultimate MOD, but you wanting to go faster is going to haunt you sooner or later. I am already planning to get my built block and I'm at 458rwhp! Start saving for the upgraded intercooler....

Just got the good news that my supercharger has been shipped! I've arranged for our shop to install it (I work at a Ford/SVT dealership).

Torrence, as much as more boost sounds good, it doesn't sound good with stock internals. I would only consider dialing up the boost with an intercooler and a built, forged bottom end. I do not have the budget for either now, so I'm going to be thrilled with the 420hp that Vortech claims for the system I ordered and I'll stick with a conservative tune as this car is my daily driver.

Well, at long last, the Vortech Supercharger is installed, tuned, and ready to drive. I work at a Ford dealership and had our shop do the install. Turned out great, and only had a few items they had to fabricate along the way. I've only had a short 5 minute drive (I'm still working and not off for a couple more hours), but am very pleased with the power. I'll definitely be looking for a custom tune to replace the supplied tune from Vortech. I'm a Diablosport user, and that's what was shipped with the supercharger, as well, so Doug at Bamachips is probably the guy to call, from what I understand.

My hats off to Page Nicholson at Stillen who made me such a killer deal and provided top notch customer service and follow up! Stillen offers quite a few different supercharger kits, as well as plenty of other goodies for our cars, and well worth calling!

I'm taking the car out for a long drive tonight to get some better driving impressions. Plus, I have to totally relearn how to drive my car with all the new-found power!

I ended up going with Vortech's V-2 S-Trim. I opted for the milder non-intercooled system that is tuned conservatively at 420hp at the crank per Vortech at roughly 8.5 psi of boost.

I'll have to get the car cleaned up, and shoot some pics in the next day or two. Thanks again to everyone for the advice and suggestions on which system to pursue!

Cool!! Enjoy your new found power. You'll get used to the power rapidly and want the intercooler and more boost before long. I upgraded my Whipple to HO status(from 6 lbs non-intercooled to 10 lbs intercooled) over the winter and LOVE it!!!

don't be surprized if it makes more pwer than you plan on!!! I had mine dyno tuned and ...well read my sig...had to add a MAFia and a iat sensor downstream of the blower (to get a actual iat reading) have fun and plan on using more gas!!! my mileage went from 20 or so city to 17 at best!!! and that is driving it mildly!!!

Thanks, all. I'm thinking that a good custom tune (vs the supplied tune from Vortech) will really help, while bettering fuel economy a bit out on the highway. In town mileage is definitely worse with converter flash and boost always on tap. But, since I only commute 4 miles to work, this daily driver is more about fun than economy.

I had assumed that with Vortech rating this system at 420hp at the crank, that it would likely make about 350-360 rwhp, but so many people here and at other forums are dyno'ing so much more than that. I'm guessing that the Vortech tune is super tame and conservative, hence its 50-state emission certification and 3 yr, 36,000 mile warranty. Looks like a good tuner could safely get another 50 rwhp easily, and maybe another 50 rwhp on top of that by intercooling combined with more aggressive tuning.
