which supercharger?

There seems to be alot of people getting poweradders for there mustangs these days. I have really been looking at some different types for mine. I have narrowed it down to two brands. A paxton 2200 HO and a Whipple HO. I don't know which one to get. The paxton is cheaper (I think) has a air to air intercooler, which I guess is better or easier to install I think. But the Whipple has that instant boost that would be fun for my everyday driving. I don't really run my car to red line all that much so I think I would benefit from the Whipple more. But I have been reading were people have been breaking pullies or something like that with the twin screws. Which has me a little worried. So please enlighten me on thoughts of the two combos. I have seen good and bad of both. I was also wondering were is the best place to get the complete Whipple HO kit? Thanks guys for the help.

Either blower will be great. Whipple= More torque down low ( big block feel). Paxton= A little more top end ( boost kicks in above 3k) . Paxton does have an air/air intercooler. The thing I like about the air/air intercooler is you never have to refill it, it's just there. Paxton is 1k cheaper... I have a paxton and I love it but the whipple is a great blower aswell...

Wow, seems like these exact threads are popping up daily - Novi2200 vs. Whipple

Oh well, its good to know your not the only one in that boat. I am still pondering the pros and cons of each system and Ive decided that Im just going to run a Whipple 3.4 feeding a custom 88mm turbo setup.

Hey Matt, can you explain this whipple/turbo setup. I don't understand it , sounds interesting...

Look up Hellion HellRaiser

I was actually kidding about MY setup, but Hellion is doing something similar with the Terminators utilizing the stock Eaton m112 and throwing on a set of twin turbos...Best of both Worlds- Roots S/C with TTs

Ok, I want to do that to my GT500. Wonder what supporting mods I'd need.

As for the original post, I suggest a twin screw setup over a centri. I loved my centri, however, now that I have a GT500 with a twin screw/roots hybrid, I wouldn't change for anything. Now that being said, I have absolutely no experience with turbos and that was the route I was headed down with my 06 GT until I sold it. I know the Turbo horse power kit is very reasonably priced. Me personally, I like torque on demand.

I'm not sure about the Paxton, but the Whipple kits are pretty complete. If you are going to install yourself, this might come in handy. You'll no doubt be happy with either though, as the ear-to-ear grins of everyone with a S/C can tell you

I'm also int he same boat. Twinscrew vs Centri. I was originally after the Whipple H.O. but with a students budget I may have to look for a cheaper alternative. Although looking more into each system I think the Centris match my style of driving more anyways.

I'm really looking at the Paxton H.O. or the Saleen blower. Priced pretty close. And I'll be buying from Brenspeed because they have complete sets bassically making the blower plug n' play

What can you get a Saleen for? Because every where Ive looked I can get the Whipple cheaper, but that is going through a vendor on Modularfords.com.

I'll PM you the whipple price and you can tell me how they match up.

I sure like the Whipple. Especially since I upgraded with the intercooler and 12 lb pulley. Plus the Whipple won't void your warranty......if you're still under warranty that is.

I'd look into that a little further. The HO voids the warranty, unless you came to some special arrangement with a particular dealer. And the non-IC one only keeps the warranty if it's installed by a dealer and uses the FRPP tune.

I think Saleen and Roush both have arrangements where they'll pick up the remainder of your warranty if you get their SC installed at an authorized dealer and use their stock tune.

If you're leaning toward a twin screw, what about the Kenne Bell?

A lot of guys complained about shreaded belts with twin screws. There's a guy on modularfords.com (thump-rr) who has the best tensioner design out there. The few that had belt problems have completely cured the problem with this tensioner.

I would give JDM a call. They were going to match the whipple price for my friend before he totaled his car. JDM has the best tune for the Saleen s/c. My best time so far has been 11.6 @119 with an automatic.
