 Wow. I just got back from testing my new college parking lot.

From a SPEED BUMP, taken at 5ish-mph, the bottom of my SS bumper just hit the concrete like no tomorrow. Got ANOTHER set of grinds and scratches on the front of the bumper. The paint not only scratched off, the bumper kinda got scratched itself. (This is probably something that is less than two inches in length, and barely noticable to the naked eye, but hey, anyone who owns a car knows how bad you feel when you KNOW somethings not perfect.)

Anyway...I am really tired of going through constant worry and changing my driving habits altogether for that, but then again, I am not someone who's ready to change my SS kit or raise the car. I want something else...

Anyone have any ideas? Many ideas came to mind:

-Air Shocks (controllable while driving, can raise the front of the car an inch or so when needed) Anyone know anything about a system like this? Cost?

- Having a local body shop mold a rubber "lip" to go onto the SS kit? Something painted to match the car, but would take the damage my bumper would...

Any ideas?? Thanks!

Chris...I see your a full time college student. You should watch what you do in your "free-time" as it can and will affect your memory!

Sorry, but I had to. As far as the scratches, I would leave it for a while before re-painting. If you already scraped, it will happen again.

And for the scratches...very true also.

Ahh there's probably one thing you could to get your mind off that bumper scratching, "TOGA PARTY"

Toga, Toga, Toga, TOGA, TOGA, TOGA, TOGA, TOGA!

I've got the eibach springs on mine too. All I have to do so is take the speed bump at an angle. If I go over it with both front tires at the same time I scrape, but if hit it one at a time and I'm OK.

I say save the money that you would otherwise spend on some expensive mod like air ride suspension and have the bumper re-sprayed every year or two. It's really not that expensive, and you can enjoy driving it and not sweat it.

Chris I think you need to change your driving habits. Since I also have the kit and the eibachs you have to realize that our cars only sit a little over 4 inches off the ground and most speed bumps are higher than this.

I don't know where you live but I'd just wait a while before painting it. Sounds like until you get used to driving it over bumps you are going to scratch it again and again and again.................

If you are that tired of constant worry and don't want to change your driving habits, well, to be blunt, you should never have bought a car that had the kit on it and lowered. You can't expect to drive a lowered car the same as a normal car, especially with a body kit installed.

yeah. My last 2 cars were lowered. It looked really sweet but It was a pain being careful with speed bumps and driveways. I had to go really slow at angles. That's why I'm not lowering my stang. I don't want to have to worry about it. I have to worry a little bit cause since I just installed the cdc classic chin spoiler. My car has about 6-6.5 inches of clearance up front so I definately will not lower.before the lip it was like 9inches. I suggest putting stock springs back on. It will still look good since you have a kit which makes it look lower than a stock body on but just not as nice lowered.

My Stang is lowered with Eibach Pros, and lemme tell you, it's not so bad at all. It clears most speed bumps, curbs, and parking stops (or whatever they're called) with no problem. BUT I have no body kit. In my 96 Eagle Talon, it was pretty bad, put a huge dent in the gas tank once. The Stang sits naturally a little higher, so with a 1.5" drop I think it's perfect.

But I have to echo what John said - you dropped the car and then installed a real low riding kit..... gotta expect that kinda thing......

Your kind of coming out harsh against me there, adrenalin. I would have dropped ANY car and added a spoiler in the front anyway...I had that in my plans. Im trying to see if anyone can suggest something as far as suspension goes...or anything else for that matter.

It is a pain, and quite frankly, adrenalin, I have changed my habits drastically. But there are times that you cannot do anything about a certain dip or driveway, and I'd like to TRY to figure out a way to help me there.

Side note- I go rallying with my friends twice a year. I want to be able to take my car, and having an air suspension system or some other thing will help A LOT.

Yeah, my Prelude is lowered and I will probably never lower a car again. PITA. I'd put the stock springs back on and sell the Eibachs...=)

Stock springs? I cannot go back to stock after having my car like this. Im not going to change anything I have as far as the kit/springs go...Im going to work out another solution that doesn't include compromising my looks/ride.

I think I am going to have the same problem. I did some searching and found out about the Praxis system. From the looks of their website they made a kit for the upto 2004 mustangs. I'm hoping they will come out with one for the new mustangs. It lets you adjust the suspension using 3 settings. One being with a stock ride height and two with lowered setups. At about $4000 we might have to give up school for a semester to aford it. Check out their website and let me know what you think. They are going to be a SEMA and so I plan on having a chat with them. I plan on going with some Cervini's stuff so my ride height will be close to 4in with a lowered suspension. That's scary.

^^ The praxis system has been on my mind for years, back when I was thinking of getting a BMW. I haven't done any research on them for the past 2 years, though.

If they have one for the <2004 stangs, I don't know how much of a chance there is to have one for the 2005's.

Besides....$4000? :nono: I'd rather get all my performance mods done with that much money, buy myself a laptop, and pay for my 2nd semester of college .
