Strange Noise Under Car, Please Help!
#1
Cannot find any existing posts with what problem I have exactly so I am asking you all to help. We have a new 2005 GT Mustang with the V8 engine. We seem to be hearing a very faint "clanking" noise some where under the car. It happens ONLY in 4th or 5th gear while you have light pressure on the gas, if you put it in neutral it goes away. We have taken it to the dealer and they said they have run tests on it and can't find anything wrong. They have told us it is normal? That's not a good enough answer for me. Something is definitely wrong here. I also own another 2005 GT Mustang with the V8 but has the Roush Sport package as well. That car has NO noise whatsoever so I know it is not normal. Has anyone heard of this or know a solution, as we will be taking both cars into the dealer for them to test side by side as they have no GT's available to test against. Thanks for your help.

Thank you for the info on the missing bolts. I think this might be the problem, when my wife gets home with her stang I will climb under and look if the bolts are missing and will get into the dealer to tell them what is wrong since they can't figure out two "FN" bolts are missing! Thanks for your help, has been bugging us for two weeks now.

I have a weird noise too. Maybe one of you can help me. I get this strange squelling noise under my car. It weird it only happens when the ground is wet or when I gun it from a stand still. There is also a lot of smoke. Should I bring this to a dealer. I dont know much about cars.

See what you do is when you get to the dealer, take the service rep by the neck and stick his head under the car. Then hold him there with your foot and gun the car so he can get a real close observation as to whats wrong with the car.
Sorry, got carried away. Basically go back to the dealer and insist that some thing is wrong. Ask for the service manager if you have to. Dealers are great for trying to blow you off when some thing goes wrong. I had a similar problem with my 03 Cobra with the rear suspension making a poping noise going into a driveway. I had to take it back three times before I finally said I'm not leaving here until I get a manager to go for a test drive with me so I can prove that there is a problem. Once that happened I got my car fixed. Just be firm and don't let them push you around.
