Stock spark plugs after 16,000 miles

This is ridiculous...check this out:

Are they supposed to be so rusted and crappy looking after such a short time?

I just put in some HT0s this evening and it feels better so I'm hoping the problem is now solved...

I was having issues w/ knocking before this swap. Justin @ VMP noticed it when I took my car in to get tuned.

Those spark plugs are perfectly normal. The tan colored deposits are not rust but a product of perfectly normal combustion. That color indicates that your air / fuel ratio is perfect. Nothing to worry about at all.

HT0's are colder than the stock plugs, and may get carbon fouled.

You don't want hto's unless you have forced induction.

Did Justin TELL you to change to HTO?
If you had a knocking problem, the tune has too much advance.
Did it only knock in really hot weather?
If that is the case, very little change will probabaly do it. (Or don't step on it in hot weather)

Plugs look good to me. The reddish color on the shafts of the plugs is fine. You have to look at the tips and electrodes. Those look fine in the pictures.

Yes, Justin recommended I try swapping in HT0s. Apparently he's seen a handful of stock 2005+ mustangs come in w/ this knocking issue.

I cured a pinging problem in my 05 S197 a few months ago by dumping a $7 can of Seafoam into the tank. Great stuff!
