stiffer ride - eibach pro kit or steeda sports?

Greetings. I had an eibach pro kit on my '06. I personally thought it was a little too low for clearance reasons. I didn't mind the stiffness but it wouldn't have bothered me if it was a little more compliant.

Now I'm considering Steeda Ultralites for clearance reasons, but I understand that the Sports are the same drop but a little stiffer ride. My question is - will the steeda sports be as stiff as the pro kit?

Having had the pro kit for a year, I'd like the ride to be a little more compliant if possible, but I'm sure I could deal with a slightly stiffer ride.

BTW for now I'm keeping the rest of the suspension stock. Opinions?

I don't think the sports are much stiffer then the ultralites at all, the eibachs are pretty harsh and bounce a lot. If you are using the stock struts then you shouldn't go lower then steeda ultralites or sports anyway. Why not just use ultralites?

The Steeda springs will have a better ride.

H&R sports and bilsteins worked well for me. Less drop than others by a bit. Stiff but not bone crushing. Overall a very nice combo.

Steeda Competition Springs are harsh compared to Eibach Pro-kit, but I love them! If you want the compliant ride and then the ability to carve fairly hard, buy some progressive springs. My beef with progressive springs is the lean at turn in and then the "trust" area where they hook and allow you to carve. Took me a while to get used to trusting the car when pushed hard. The Competition springs are direct rate and when you think you want to turn...bam...your going that way! You do however feel snail dung when you drive over it.

The Steeda springs (sport) only drop the car at best 1'' and are made with silicone. I installed a set of Eibachs on my friends '07 and they dropped the car another half inch at least (pro kit). We both have 18's and both agree the Steeda springs have a better ride. That's all I have for you.

I noticed the other guy was referring to Steeda competition springs. I guess they're different than sport springs? I don't buy much Steeda stuff.

I just installed the Steeda Sport springs and Steeda ProAction shocks. Ride is definitely flatter now, but very compliant around town. Ideal for corner carving or daily commute. Not harsh at all, but definitely firmed up a bit.

Back to clarify...Steeda COMPETITION springs. These are the highest spring rate offered by Steeda for the S197 chassis. They're really not bad, so I image the Sports would be real nice for a DD.

Agreed. It took a bit of getting used to for sure. Some days I say I would prefer a linear spring. But none are made with reasonable drops IMO.

If my memory serves me correctly, the competition springs and eibach pro-kits are pretty close in spring rate.

I currently own (2) cars, one with Eibachs and one with Steeda Comps and they drive WAY differently. My wife's car has the Eibachs as her preference is toward daily driving. The turn in effort with the Competition springs is very minute compared to the Eibachs. I actually have to feel out her car every time I drive somewhere as it is somewhat noticeable.

It's all personal preference. If you have a strong back and don't mind feeling more of the expansion joints and road surface, go aggressive. If you really want to make the car turn in better, but don't want to lose your factory ride, do the Pro-Kit or Sport springs.

Steeda Sport Springs - Spring rate is 200lb front, 175lb rear.
Steeda Ultralite Sport Springs - 195lb front, 175lb rear.
Steeda Street/Comp Springs - 225lb front, 185lb rear.

I remember the Eibach's being roughly equal to the Comp springs in terms of spring rate, but right now I cannot find the data.

I went with the sport springs, now I wish that I would have went with the competition springs instead. Also running Tokico D-specs, ride is very comfortable and the car handles great.

I have the pro-kits with tokico d-specs and find the ride is getting to me. It's bouncy and harsh. My father doesn't even like driving in the car with me when he's in town because he says its too rough.

I don't really know what to change at this point - the springs or the shocks. Bah

My first setup was the D-spec's and linear 250F, 200R Eibach springs. When I got the Koni's and more spring, the ride actually improved. I believe the pro-kit rates are progressive, 171-229lb F and 109-200lb R.

ill be swapping my steeda sports to the competitions or h&r race. Still too much brake drive and sway in the car. Hopefully with the dspecs the ride wont be too bad.
