Steeda Inlet Spacer
I just noticed that Steeda has a new inlet spacer on their web site. Do they really add any hp? I remember reading something earlier in the year about spacers but don't recall any exciting comments about them. Anyone had any experience with this product or any other manufacturer? Thanks.

i'm trying to picture it installed with the CAI and the new inlet elbow pipe I just put on - wondering how it will line up. No added HP makes it questionable as a mod.

what about low and midrange torque ?? any improvements at all ? Otherwise why not just spend the same $95.00-110.00 on FRPP cmvc delete plates that will provide both more HP and Torque ??

from a TMS member about last year, it dyno'd at 1HP and 10 ft lbs of Torque. The throttle response was GONE completely, especially those with a T/B Spacer and a Tuner.
yes, why not spend 95.00 or 110.00 on cmvc delete plates and get more power, but granted the t/b spacer does add small power, but in the long run, increase's gas mileage and GETS RID OF THE THROTTLE LAG.....
here is a pic of my JET t/b spacer and when I had my K&N intake, I now have the C&L intake and I've had no problems!

Thanks for the pictures. Looks like it just squeezes in there. Did you add it after the tune or was it included in the tune you got from Doug? It's a small mod but every little bit helps.

I installed it way before I got the tuner, I did feel a difference seat of the pants, and the throttle lag DEF improved. Bought the tuner 2 months later, and the lag was gone! I never dyno'd it but the one forum member did and i was pleased. I also played around with the computer. I actually did 2 trips to north jersey one time just as an experiment, I unplugged the T/B spacer on the first trip and looked at the meter when I returned, I lost a fair amount of gas. next trip the following weekend, plugged it in, came back, did my estimates, came about to a 3-4MPG increase! i was very pleased, especially at the time when gas prices were killer, any increase in the gas mileage was a plus for me!

I don't get to do much high speed highway driving because of the traffic density in the DC area. I am happy with the mileage I'm getting (19+) on the days (maybe twice a week) I drive the car to work. I've got a small trip planned sometime in the next month and I'll see if I can duplicate the mileage I got (26+) last June going to the beach. If the spacer will add a few mpg I'll look at it - I only burn 93. it's nice to see power with gas mileage for a change. My old 1969 Mach I was awful btu this technolgy was not available. Back then the philosophy for making a Ford run good was to pour gas into the engine. Put a Holley Projection kit on it to do just that.

For those with a JLT, you will have fitment problems with the spacer. The inlet pipe will scratch on the power steering reservior. I added a strip of adhesive foam rubber to the pipe to protect it.
I know these things don't get much props from the heavy tech guys, but I do notice a difference with it (better) than without it. I'm more of a torque feind than a HP one. My tach doesn't get much exercise above 4,000 RPM.
What am I a little curious about is what would happen if you had both the spacer and the delete plates. I'm no engineer, but I think the "swirl" these spacers intend to produce can get negated by the motion plates. If they were out of the way however...

I did my exhaust and CAI/tune at the same time. Worked well from Day 1 with no lag (at least im my opinion). I added the inlet elbow just recently and that made the response a tad better. It may vary with each system.

I've got one new in the box, only used it for dynotesting purposes. I dont stand behind it making power but it is in great shape. Its the Jet type, I'll sell it for $50 plus shipping.
