Sorry for the long post but I have to tell someone

Well if you guys remember i posted about tire pressure for the events at s3 in mid-ohio for this past weekend. Well I got back from mid-ohio yesterday and all I can say is it was awesome. They divided the speed competition up into engine classes ie.(4cyl, 6cyl, and 8+cyls) There were only 2 of us in the 8cyl+ class. A new 2005 vette and me. The vette was stock.

Events:
Straight line run probably close to a 1/4 mile on the front strip of race track.. Go as fast as you can go BUT stop in a 20ft box at the end of your run. Time stops when u come to a complete stop and you must be IN box or you suffer time penalties. Some nice launches left me with 13.46 (1st run) 13.2 (2nd run). Hit about 90 mph before I reached for the brakes. To put that in perspective the 437awhp evo8 was running a 12.8 on the same event. And the Vette was best overall out of 4cyl,6 and 8 with a 12.64secs.

The 2nd event was a cornering competition .. Huge 3 turn setup with a hill on one of the curves. First run through was a 20.8secs and 2nd run was a 21flat. She hung in there well with only modest understeer but I was able to counter that with a heavy right foot in 2nd gear . She was sure squeeling tho.

In the end they total your best time through straight line + cornering and that determines scoring. I beat the vette by just enough in the cornering competition to put my stang in 1st place in the 8cyl+ class. It was fun representing the ONLY mustang at the competition and I heard plenty of cheering from the crowd as I was staged/racing. I will post some pictures when I get home from work as well as video of my run through the esses event when I get it ripped.

On another note I was also able to witness the grand-am cup racing and I saw all I think 5, 05 stangs racing around mid-ohio .. Saw our very own mustang source stangs as well.

Just goes to show, you can buy a $40+ Corvette, and go really fast in a straight line, but when it comes to corners, it's all driver.

Good job beating the Vette!

I saw you coming back across the bridge to the infield after the competition. Did you have your center caps off the car?

If I would have known you where coming I'd have introduced myself. Brad, myself, and Dan02GT all attended the race.

Whoa .. Ya i had the center caps off because I was afraid they might have flown off. I was hoping someone would see my post a week ago about s3. I was the only 05 there at least that entered any competitions. Did you see me run at all? I wish I had known that you guys were there as well.

Okay .. Here is a link to a site with a couple of pics(video) of my run through the esse curves. He was only able to snap a couple since it was only like 20 secs total to run it. The video is my 2nd run through the same esse curves. Save it to disk and open it in windows media player and expand it to 200% for the best quality.

Enjoy! let me know if it doesnt work.

Also the video is a hefty 20mb for those of you with cable access it shouldnt be too bad. I havent been able to compress it yet to something more efficient.

No, I missed your run, as well as all the others. We were over in the paddock area eating lunch. But as I mentioned we saw most of you guys coming back over into the infield. Sorry I missed your post, what section was it in? I try to look in the Midwest Section for events . . . .well . . in the Midwest.

Ah thats why.. It was a post about tire pressure for racing. It was in the 05 mustang GT & perfomance forum. I mentioned the S3 event in there. I checked the location forums but I couldnt find anything regarding S3.

That looks like way too much fun! Your car looks good, and sounds good going around those curves.
