I look forward to the Challenger SRT-8. Let's say they can trim 100 lbs off the Charger by making it shorter and removing the sound proofing. Add something a little lower than the 3.06 gears and throw in a properly spaced 6 speed and it should make respectable 1/4's. However.... if they price it like an SRT-8 I will expect a lot more.

Also looking forward to the next Mustang and Camaro. It's a great day for everyone that likes muscle cars

If you read all the 1/4 stats and stuff that the magazines got, the only charger that beats the gt stang, stock for stock is the srt8, and its close.

Although I must say my friend just traded in his GTO last night for a Charger R/T with the Road and Track package (upgraded suspension and 350hp rather than 340) and it is a quick car. I think motortrend or someone gave it 14.2 1/4 mile, so its slower than the 13.8 they gave the stang, but still a very respectible time IMO. I do have to say comfort wise it beats the stang hands down, sitting in it is alot more luxurious than the stang. Don't get me wrong my stang is number one, but if I had the cash I wouldn't mind trading in my 2nd car (96 tbird) for a new charger

I've been told that these Mopars don't give WOT off the line due to a weak differential (a respectable tuner told me this - said he reprogrammed one for WOT off the line and broke the poor little differential).

There are a lot of SRT-8's in Montreal and they turn a consistent 13.1-13.2 which is nothing to sneeze at with 1.90 short times.

You think you got problems ? Every kid in a civic wants to race me at every stoplight. They think an exhaust and a CAi will immediately double their power ... LOL

Yeah, I was disappointed as well when on of the Magum wagons with the big HEMI raced me - wasn't even close.....I left him behind and the poor guy was trying to show his g-friend how his big wagon was going to beat a GT's butt.....

Anybody raced an F body yet? In my '00GT I used to get harassed all the time by the F-body guys......not anymore though - I guess the words out onour GT's.....which do respond very well to the CAI/Tune combo!

My experience has been that a GT will slightly out run an F body, but they are a few years old now, seeing as they aren't made anymore. GM you are idiots. This new Camaro ought to be good, or you're screwed.

Yep, I actually ran with a last model Trans-Am one night on a looong highway run at about 1am on I75, which is like 4 wide lanes and no cops. 3 stretches of going from about 50-100 I dogged him everytime by about a car length. Not once did he ever pull on me, and I was extremely impressed. Those things pull hard though, so if you slip, forget about it. It was some of the most fun I'd had ever taking my car on the highway, because he was a real cool guy and wasnt being a jerk, we were just cruising next to each other for a full county, and every once in a while would hop on it.

I was pleasantly surprised when a C4 Vette tried to blow me away getting on the highway. I started to gain on him until I took my foot off the pedal at 80+. I would have thought he should have pulled away slightly. I knew he was trying "cause he never took his foot off the pedal until over 100 so he could show me how much faster he was.

4" thick insulation, 22" wheels, an iron engine, and a 200" wheelbase.

An old Fury sedan weighs less than a new Charger, and they're about 2ft longer and 1ft wider...

Yeah and isnt the SRT8 something ridiculous like almost 5000lbs? And if you thought the GT had mileage problems, try 14/20 + gas guzzler tax.
