My SLPS got delayed until monday. Something about a bad conveyer belt in the Secaucus ups warehouse. Ive already got my mufflers off the car. How bad would it be to drive it with no mufflers. Im jsut talknig about a 5 minute trip here and there, no WOT and nothing longer than 5 minutes? I already psoited this in the GT performance but figured id try a broader audience here

I did this for a week no problems with the exception of the occasinal clank against the frame of the car, this gets worse with time and is really annoying on the freeway. but no damage was done

Thanks for that description, Ron. I just ordered mine last night and I was really worried they would be too loud. For reference I had MagnaPacks on my '03. If they're not much louder than those, I think I'll be OK.

I loved mine without mufflers the sound was perfect, but that banging got worse and it wasnt worth the risk of damaging the pipes, so with the added tips, intake, and headers I am pretty pleased with the sound I have now.

I will see if I get them uploaded this weekend if no one beats me to it, I dont have time right now becuase I have to go to work soon, but the no mufflers with just pipe and 4" tips sound better than the SLPs do IMO

The second set of clips are the best I've heard the SLP's sound. (the redfire coupe) Any info on who's it is? Or if there any other mods affecting the sound? I'd be thrilled if mine sound that good!
Thanks for the clips! Those 2 are new to me.

It has been my understanding running a car without mufflers and not tuned for it causes a loss on the engine's performance. True or false?

So you feel there's a diffence in the sound? I wonder why that is.
I would have thought they would sound the same or at least REALLY close.

I dont reallt know why there is a difference in sound the only difference in the pipes are that they are 3" tips and mine are 4" I dont know if thats it, but I had my car parked next to an 05 with SLPs at the show last weekend and they were just a more mellow sound, and that is a comparison to before I put the headers on, he too had an intake just a different one so that too might contribute, but I dont think as much, now with my headers on my car is super mean sounding and I love it.

I've heard this too because it decreases pressure, although the losses in power I've heard of were like 2-3hp....nothing substantial.

well i feel no difference in power at all. i added the C&l intake as well with no mufflers today and no tune and it is running perfectly. i plan on tuning it in a week or so after i finish all of the mods. till then ill jsut drive it for real short trips and use my beater to get where i need to go

Car must be loud as heck without mufflers on there and wake up the neighbors, which is a good thing of course
