I'm trying to install my slp's tonight. I've mounted the pipes but not completely tightened them down. When I hold them in place where they should be, the hangers that come welded to the pipe and the hangers on the tips are both far (2 inches or more) from where the mounting brackets bolt to the frame. I've seen threads where people had trouble getting the tips aligned just right, but this way more than minor alignment. For those that have installed slps - did you bend the hangers at all? It almost seems like the parts are wrong (I'll try to get pics).

The two tips each have different hangers. One tip has much longer hanger than the other. I assume that the tip with the longer hanger is for the passenger side, and the shorter tip is for the driver's side. Is this right? Not sure how it could be wrong, since the tips would not fit the other way, but just want to be sure.

Any advice on how to get these to fit properly? I'm stuck.

The two back hangers have to be turned around up side down and yes the tailer nanger is the passengers side.

 

Hmm, I'll look into that. I've never heard anyone mention turning them upside down. I assume that means the back brackets will only use one of the two mounting bolts, since if the bracket is turned upside down, both holes in the bracket won't line up with the frame of the car.

 

Mine went on fine, I just snugged them down so I could still move them a bit. I didn't have to do anything with the hangers or anthing. Final adjustments can be made easier if you have someone else hold the tips while you tighten them up.

 

I had to reverse the rubber hangar holders/brackets, too. No big deal. Just keep playing with it - they fit, I promise. You'll get it.

 

I did not reverse anything at all, but they seem to hang to low in the opening in the rear panel, I have about 1" clearance to the top of the hole...most of the pictures I have seen of different exausts, JBA and Manapacks are sitting much higher in the opening. My SLP's are also at a slight downward angle...am I doing something wrong here? Here is a pic, sorry for the quality

Here is a picture of mine installed. I didn't have much trouble; however, you do have to play around with them awhile. I tightened the brackets then had my friend hold them in place and I tightened the clamps.

I'd suggest just taking one at a time. Loosen the clamp holding the muffler but leave it a little snug, then remove the bolts to the hanger virbration supressors. Loosen the clamp the rest of the way and pull the muffler off.

I left the rubber vibration supressor thingies on the muffler hangers just to give me an idea of how they go but you don't really have to, they are marked "bottom" and only go one way.

The tip with the long hanger is passenger side.

You may want to tighten the clamps up a bit before you climb under the car just to save you the extra effort of doing them under the car.

A helper would be useful to help keep the tips in place when you clamp them down, they move some and I had to keep climbing out from under the car re-adjust then get back under. Also to get a second opinion weather or not you have them even.

You don't need to bend anything, if they aren't fitting right then you have them on wrong.

Thanks for the advice, but I realy dont understand why you would have to take down the suppressers at all, but I will be under there again soon to try it again, I was just going to loosen all the clamps up to the catts and try again. Did you loosen the forward clamps when you installed yours?

 

im having trouble installingthem as well they jsut dont seem to lign up with thehangers at all, especially the passenger side.

 

upside down confused me for a bit. Just make sure to have the hanger bracket aligned to the car so the long flat part that has the words "bottom" on it faces the ground and everything will align properly. once i figured that out it installed in 15 minutes. Great sound i love it!

 

yeah..took some readjustment to make it fit good.. the more i pushed the tips toward the car after loosening the first clamp.it got tighter and it rose up. I will take a quick pic tomorrow and try to post..the fit is perfect now. don't know about the turning brackets stuff..my neighbor carr buff wanted to do the install..I did the final readjustments after driving.
