Disclaimer: I have not looked at a 67/68 dash in quite a while, so my memory could be failing me.
140, 160, 180, 200, 300, mach 10, super luminal, warp 10, coexsisting at all points in the universe at the same time crazy fast....
Its just a gimick... I'm sure the price or rice of the car has something to do with the upper limit of the speedo.

if it went higher than 140 it would be even harder to read

Back to the drag race.......
I raced a near stock 2002 last week with the laoner GT the dealership loaned me, till my car came in. It had about 1700 miles on it and ran STRONG!
Anyhoo.... his car has intake, headers/exhaust and possibly gears. He said it was good for 13.60's. I'm not used to the clutch for a good launch yet, being a new car with a hydraulic clutch, so he took me out of the hole. I had my G-tech going while we raced so I could estemate a track race. He pulled me at first but at the top of 3rd, I started to creep on him. By the end of 4th I had pulled him and the G-Tech started flashing. It was such a close race and he may have beet me in the 1/4 but I think I actually got him at the finish line. Point being..... you may have got beat Porsche, but in a real 1/4 mile race, you probably would have pulled him. I shifted at 6,000 also. Car was pulling too hard to shift any earlier in my openion.
Also, we turned around and tried another run. The race was duplicated.

Back in the 80's gauges only went up to about 85 to discourage people from going speeds in excess of that number. The number on the dial means nothing until the needle is on it.

but that was, of course, on a closed track, by a professional driver, and not to be attempeted
