It was a beautiful, rare 1970 4 speed manual conservatively rated at 360 hp(For insurance purposes. Some claim it's closer to 425 HP.), and 510 lb-ft of torque. He said it also had a full exhaust. But to be fair, it also had a little over 100K miles.
We did two 40 mph rolls(Things did not work out for a dig race). Results were the same for both. We were dead even thru 2nd, I pulled steadily away in 3rd, and won by 2 cars when we shut down at 90 mph.......Doug's tune worked its magic.

Where you from? Being also an owner of a matching numbers '71 GSX I rarely come across any other GSX owners except at the GS Nationals. If the car was a legit Stage 1 GSX in excellent condition he better have it in a vault instead of thrashing it on the street since their value is going through the roof. I cruise the X to car shows and thrash the stang at the strip a few times a year.

I kidded him about the same thing, and he said that he was sure the a/c was off, and that he was speed shifting. He's a good driver, but 100K + miles takes its toll.
Dougs tunes are awesome. I have his 91 race tune in my auto GT. A strong '70 Stage 1 455 is good for low/mid 13's with good conditions so both of your cars would be close. You gotta remember that Buick is about 400-500 lbs. heavier and has the aerodynamics of a 3 bedroom house. My '71 GSX with a TH400 trans tips the scales at 4100 lbs with me and 1/2 tank of gas. It takes all of those 455 cubes to pull it. Sounds like your wife has a cool boss.
Cool encounter! Those GSX were wicked fast maybe hitting high twelves if they hooked up well. In 1978 I had a 1970 GS with a Kenne Bell built Stage 1 motor.
It was the biggest torque monster I ever drove. (10.90s on pump gas) but just a long gone memory now!

Jim Bell knows the Buick 455 well. I think "Pops" Kennedys '70 GS 455 owned his class in NHRA for years durning the '70s. On paper others car may have had more HP but the 455 had UNGODLY TORQUE just off idle and torque wins races if the tires don't melt first.
They have a Buick Day here in NJ at Englishtown during the summer and there are a few GS's that show up. Also have the stock appearing drags were a couple of Stock looking Stage 1's beat up on the Hemi's.
One day I'll get/build another one.

Then of course all the torque means traction is generally limited and that hurts off the line performance...
