Shopping for new axlebacks (again!)

I'm seriously considering the Borla stingers but I was also wondering how they compare to the Magnaflow magnapack mufflers? I've never heard the magnapacks in person and was curious if anyone here has some input for sound comparison. Which is louder, deeper, etc.
Thanks,
Mark

Stingers and Magnapacks are the ones that look like ricer cans, right? They're like basically a fatter pipe and nothing inside?

Well, he could always go with F350 exhaust note if he can't live with the ricer cans, couldn't he?

I think I'll also be shopping for new axlebacks soon. I just put Dynomax mufflers on. Now that I have had them on awhile, they do not seem any louder than the stock ones I took off.

The same thing happened to me when I replaced my stock mufflers with the regular Magnaflow mufflers; though they did sound better when you got on the gas.
Actually, I like the sound of my JBA's but two things have been nagging me about them. One is that the muffler tips stick too far out for my taste and two, now that I replaced the rear bumper cover with the GT500 cover, the rear cutouts are a lot larger making the JBA tips appear small.
After hearing a couple of exhaust set ups with LT headers and Borla stingers (thanks Jeff) I've been wanting to start the transition. Since I just received my tax rebate from uncle sam, I guess you could say that I want to do my part in helping out the economy by spending the rebate Come to think of it, when I get the Borlas, they will be the 4th set of mufflers I had on this car in less than 1 year of owning it!

I feel the same way about the JBA tips. If it weren't for that, I'd have a free mod when Penguin's Magnaflows arrive! I guess you could cut them off, cut out a section, and reweld, but the bead would have to be PERFECT due to the location.

I had considered that but after deciding to get a LT header/HF catted midpipe set up I decided to leave them alone. From what I had read, the JBA mufflers sound really rough with LTs and midpipes so it looks like they are getting replaced.

I should've read Scotts thread on finding the perfect exhaust before I started this thread. I think I'm going to try my Magnaflows first with a LT and high flow cat system before buying the Borlas. I already own a set of the Mags. so I'm already 1/3 finished

Mark,
I have been down all the roads you are thinking about heading down. All I can tell you is decide now what you what for a final exhaust setup. Meaning do you need to run cats...do you want to run offroad or maybe longtubes. I say this because every muffler choice out there will sound different with cats, or longtubes. I can only say I have been there and done that. Hope my trials and expense in trying different setups can help you decide which way to go.

Hey Mark, If your seriously considering a high-flow catted system. You may want to consider going with a MAC high-flow catted prochamber. IMO it provides the exhaust note of a H-pipe, but also offers more airflow, and performance from an X-pipe. So why not choose a high-flow catted system, that offers the best of both worlds.

LOL... It's an endless goal isn't it Wallace? Good for the muffler manufactures at least. Glad we can put a few guys to work.

The stingers are probably louder and deeper. Check out the pypes mid muffler as well. I recently swaped out my stingers for the pmm and they are have a more aggressice sound with a lot less drone...

Which mufflers (axle back) sound the deepest with JBA longtubes and the JBA catted H-pipe? Anybody got a good sound clip? I want to hear JBA LT's and their catted H. I've got the regular Magnaflows with this set up now and I'd like to sell them for a deeper tone.

Yeah looking for a local shop that will install some hot rod cams and get these longtubes on The tone of the prochamber and pypes mid muffler is perfect. Just needs to be a tad louder...

Where'd you get your stingers from? I'm looking to slowly piece together a system on my stock 08.

I'm pretty sure that the Magnpacks and Stingers would sound like a fart can in comparison. Usually those "straight-thru" designs amplify the raspy-poppy-crap...

I'm running JBA LTs and an O/R JBA H-pipe and the JBA mufflers sounded like I was raping a Honda Civic all the time.
