Sorry if this is a repost, but I did a few quick searches and didnt come up with anything. Ive seen some people remark at the amount of feedback/vibration comming through the shifter. Personally, I get it too. Anyway, this is supposed to fix it up, and I cant remember ever seeing it anywhere else. Cant vouch for it personally.

Our shifter vibrates as well, and I thought there was something wrong with it. For the past 7-8 years we've driven nothing but German cars and their shifters & transmissions are silky smooth. We bought the first Mustang we drove, so I had no idea if all of them had the vibration or there was something wrong with our car. Well, I took it in and they said that is normal. They said it is because the shifter is mounted directly to the transmission, there is going to be vibration and even let us drive another car so we could see that it wasn't just our car. Now that I've gotten used to it it doesn't bug me, and I apprecitate the service department for taking the time to reassure me.

i kinda dig the way this beast rumbles and vibrates, it is like it is alive! when i get into another car i feel like i am driving a boring dead car...

I like the vibration too. I have noticed as well that the shifter boot gets really warm too from heat.

Same here, I was driving a BMW E46 M3 before this, and when I first drove my mustang, it surprised me how high the clutch let out and how "floaty" the shifter felt, and how it vibrated. In the M3, the clutch let up about an inch from the floor, and took about twice as much effort to push down. It shifted silky smooth, but there were definite NOTCHES that were the gears. In my mustang at first, I could not tell what gear I was in by looking, and the vibrating was killing me. But after about 3 days, I got over it, and now I am very happy with the way it drives. Even the vibration doesnt bother me.

Going back in time a ways - that used to be one of the selling points of a "sports" car were the raw edges, the "seat of the pants" driving feeling - nothing quite like it - if you realize that's the way it is supposed to be - not really silky smooth - but more of a "refined raw".....gotta admit though - this 5 speed shifter is much improved over my 2000 GT 5-spd......

So, will Shifter Gaskets for T5/T45, TR3650 help the vibrations and getting rid of some noise? I am being bothered by noise coming from the leather boot that covers the stick. When I put it in 5th vibration makes it shake and rub and makes an annoying noise. Also, is a whining noise while in 3rd normal? Not too loud, but I can hear it if I listen with my radio off and engine at 2-2.5k RPM. My last car with a manual was a VW Fox, which had its own set of noises, but nothing like that

If people don't like the shifter they can install a short throw one and throw a gasket on if they don't like it.

I love the shifter. It feels fine to me. Just the right throw, feels solid, and has just enough feedback.

The only issue I have had with it is sometimes it doesn't want to go into 4th. I'm sure with a few more miles that will resolve itself.

Did anybody try this gasket yet? What's involved in installing it? Is it a DIY or a mechanic has to install it? Thanks!

I agree with the person that said these gaskets are for the older Mustangs.
The 2005's use a different shifter that doesn't attach to the transmission in the same way, so I don't believe that they will work on the new Mustangs.

I have a complaint about the shifter and the trans.

Shifter - feels draggy, not smooth acting

Trans - synchros in 1st four gears crunch and grab about 50% of the time ... the other half smooth ... and yes I push the clutch pedal to the floor, so its not induced by clutch drag

My 69 BOSS 302 top loader is extremely smooth by comparison ... synchro technology has been around a long time ... even a heavy duty or high performance trans should not catch or grab.

vibrations wise (need to be careful about my choice or words here) I do not feel anything objectionalble, but it is like having your hand on the tail shaft housing. The poly bushes that Steeda has may help or exaggerate it depending how much the engine moves around on its mounts, with one end of the shifter anchored to the tail shaft housing and the other in fore / aft float at the transmission tunnel.

I just got an e-mail from a place that sells shifter gaskets and shifters. They confirmed that as of yet there is no shifter gasket for v6. However, it should become available soon as well as Steeda's short shifter for the 05 V6. Which makes me ask this: what difference would an aftermarket shifter (Steeda) make? Is it worth the money I pay for the shifter and the labor to install it? Will it void factory warranty on transmission?

If you want to get rid of the vibration then dont go with an aftermarket shifter. The urithane bushings only increase the feel of vibration in the cab and shifter. I love my steeda TIRAX shifter, but I was also used to driving my dads 90 gt mustang with a pro 5.0 shifter on a tremec 3550 TKO and that has a lot of shifter vibration. And what you are really feeling is drivetrain vibration from the clutch and flywheel. Also with the steeda shifter it will make your e-brake buzz because the transmission is just about solid mounted to the body, and you feel all the vibrations from the motor.

The old shifter is more of a luxury feel and new one is a race car/ muscle car feel. I love my new shifter!
