As many of you may know, my plan has been to add a Saleen SC and make it work with the CDC Shaker Scoop. But now that the KB twin screw SCs are becoming available, I'm reconsidering my approach.

With the Saleen, the blower sits much higher than the stock intake plenum, so I would need to modify the hood significantly (i.e., some sort of cowl or something like that). But, from what I can see so far, the KB appears to sit much lower, almost the same as the stock intake. If that's the case, then I might be able to avoid the hood modifications.

Take a look at these pics and let me know if you see what I am seeing.

Kenne Bell SC (still looking for more complete pics):

While the saleen sits high all together, the KB sits high up front. You still may not be able to seat the Shaker without hood modifications.

Looks like it sits lower to me. I dont think the shaker sits enough forward to interfere with what cleveland is stating. I just dont see it...

Looks like it would fit better with a stock hood and the KB, and a little custom mounting.

Hmmm... do you think that KB is higher than the stock plenum?

I have already modified the Shaker housing to fit around the C&L pipe, so I don't think the pulley snout will interfere... or will it? :bang:

I guess the shaker will need to be modified for the TB relocation as well..

Yea, the custom mounting will be a must. As will removing some of the shroud below the scoop.

It wouldn't bother me to take it all off right up to the "drip tray" around the scoop.

Speaking of the TB side, I'd love to see a pic of how they handle the air inlet. I wonder if it is like the Roushcharger...

hard to say without seeing the KB in person but it just might work. The Saleen fitment would be a real pain in the hiney.

Hey Don,
I have not checked out the KB blower yet but it might sit lower because it does not have an intercooler under it like the Saleen. Not sure because I have not done any homework yet, just a thought. If there is no intercooler under the KB I think I would still go with the Saleen. I know from experience that the KB's makes lots of power but after blowing up my 96 Cobra on 9-10 lbs of boost ( NON- INTERCOOLED) I think it is important for a daily driver to be intercoolered. Just my 2cents!!

Good point, Scott. I'm not sure on the intercooler. Just another unanswered question right now... I'll see what I can find out.

According to Adam @ ST Motorsports, it is intercooled. He is in possession of one for his car right now.

OK, since I am now officially waiting for delivery of the KB SC I just ordered, I better start figuring out how to make the shaker work with it. LOL

Enjoy the KB Trimming up to the drip tray will probably be required to make it look right.

When I seen the install on 2 guys garage episode, the KB TB inlet had a 4 in worm hose down the passenger side, and the filter was mounted under the passenger headlight, behind the front cover.
They did state some "metal trimming" was required..but that may have been for that prototype kit only, not sure.

I dont think it will go across the front of the motor like the roushcharger, but it should have molded piping for a passenger side inlet.

I was told tonight that the intake is similar to the way KB designed the 03/04 Cobra set-up (see below), except it goes to the front bumper area. I'm trying to get some pics of an 05 set-up. I believe relocation of the computer and fuse box is part of the install.

Don, It sounds like you're breaking new ground here. I eagerly await hearing and seeing how it goes for you. That Shaker is awesome, but then again, so is the KB!

Its extensive install that way..

<thinking out loud>
Relocated battery to the trunk for better weight distribution, and relocated PCM to the battery's OEM location along witht he power distribution box.>
Leaving a ton of more room for that inlet tract...

That's kind of the scary part. Being one of the first... no chance to learn from others. But, it's not as scary as what David, Derek and some of the others are doing. hehe

I've been thinking the same thing. We'll see...
