I just received my X-cal2 and K&N intake with custom tunes from Brenspeed, couldn't be happier with their service. I was reading through the instructions that came with the X-cal and it says I first have to disconnect the fuel pump and electric fan fuses before loading the tune. I always thought you could just plug it in and load them. Is this really necessary?

I didn't and everything loaded fine. I believe that was needed for older vehicles.

It was a problem on certain older cars. I didn't remove anything and have not had any issue flashing my car. And I don't expect to, either.

I did. It takes 2.5 seconds to do like the directions say. I think there was a concern about the fuel pump or fan coming on and corupting the tune.

That is only for older models. As long as you have a healthy battery there is no need to.

That's a pic I got when my car was being shot for a magazine. She's pretty hot, but I was a little freaked out when she kept rubbing herself over my paint... that swimsuit had something shiny on the straps...

 I know, I've got issues

Yes, the manual tells you which fuses they are.... they're under the hood. It might not be necessary, but I dont' know what exactly the reason was and figured better safe than sorry.

I removed mine. A total of 4 fuses. 3 big ones, and a micro fuse.

Why not, especially if the instructions say to.
