I'm thinking about getting my automatic 2005 GT tuned with this SCT XCalibrator thingy.

Has anyone had any experience with SCT Tuning and especially with an automatic 2005 GT.

So far the product is top notch, BUT the support seems to be less than average. They seem to ignore emails and direct Forum post request assistance.

Update: I have emailed my Tuner to see if he can get the information I need.

NOt a problem - a request. Per a dev there, a shift kit wont help the Auto Tranny. BUT they have figured out the 1-2 shift and can make it shift harder/faster. The Dev told me in a forum conversation this past Sunday.

I asked if it was released in the files to the tuners. He said no, I then asked if I could get a copy of the item that were changed - and have not heard from him since Sunday. BTW, the entire conversation took place in just a short time - then he just disappeared. I have posted numerous requests and even emailed them. No response.

The is important because I am going for my tune on the 18th... I drove over 200 miles to do it and I dont want to go back just for shift changes. If they have it now, then, they can release it If it is not ready, then they can say that too. They just are not responding.

I'm waiting for the SCT engineers to figure out how to make the gear shifting more responsive. I'm hoping in month or 2 they will figure it all out.

I have an auto 05 GT, and sometimes the gear shifting (and/or throttle response) can be sluggish.

They already have it ...

See the ones by Dev@SCT They just need to give over the settings.

I think I will wait a bit before I get it done...so more and more things can be figured out. Only doing this because the closest place to me that does this sort of thing is 3 hours away.

Well, they can simply mail you the SCT flash device and you can flash it your self.

The only thing you can't do right now (by yourself) is tweak settings and dyno your car - unless you happen to work in a speed shop.

From what I understand, the SCT flash device contains 3 settings. You can choose to install any of them.

So you would simply ask the dealer to configure these 3 settings. For example:

1) For 91 Octane and everything else optimized
2) Same as 1 except for 3.73 gears
3) Same as 2 except for Nitros.

So since my car is currently stock, I would install setting 1.
When I get 3.73 gears installed, I would flash to setting 2.

And when i need to get the car serviced, i reflash to stock again

but I don't want to run 91 octane. I got rid of my Grand Prix cause I had to run that due to the supercharger.

If you flash it back to stock, can the mechanic tell and therefore void the warranty (if you go back for warranty work)?

Is there much gain when flashing and still using 87 octane?

I see that you can get a pc cable. I wonder if I can also get the software and use my laptop to control this stinker.

THey have software that comes with the XCalibrator, but they haven't released it yet (meaning, they owe it to you for free when it's released). It is called quicktune and only allows the end user (you) to adjust a few things. They have much more detailed software that sells for $$$ only to tuning shops. That gives more/full control.
