Saleen Supercharger price increase confirmed
#21
I think the Saleen blower itself is a superior design to that of the
Kenne Bell due to it's inverse design with the longer intake runners.
That being said they have the most pathetic tunes right along with the ATI procharger.
I like the Kenne Bell Boost A Pump and would install it even if I was going with the Saleen
I wouldn't pay a dime over $5,000 for the Saleen.

I think the increase has to do with the Lysohlm factory in Sweden. After all the GT500 was reverted to an Eaton M112 because the factory in Sweden could not meet demand.

If you're still wanting a Saleen SC and want to get it before the end of the year, you can't beat this price:

When I bought mine today, Brian said that the increased price version is actually different. He said some of the components are slightly changed. He called it a "revised" version. I got this revised version for $4370 shipped.
Huge thanks to Madhouse to pointing me to this incredible deal.
On a side note, what do you guys think a twin screw + 4.10's + stock tires will do for my traction?
P.S. Merry Christmas, everyone.

Congratulations!! You are guaranteed plenty of fun now!! I dam near ordered one of those from Brian myself a couple days ago, but opted for the KB instead. So I'll have the twin screw + 4.10s, also... but not stock tires. No traction is no fun. :nono:

Well I am putting my money on the new Whipple. They are talking a Feb release now. I think they offer the biggest charge coolers. Bigger coolers means more HP at the same boost than with lesser air charge cooling.
The Saleen looks cool, but I wonder about the losses at that sharp 90 deg turn / entry into the blower. It may turn out that inlet runner after the TB has more area than the others, but it sure looks restrictive to air flow.

The main constraint with all the blowers, is that the shortblock is limited in stock form. It's generally accepted that anything over 450rwhp is playing with fire. And really, any of these blowers can get into the 425-450rwhp with 8-10psi boost. If tuned "conservatively", 8-10psi can be a streetable level without living on the ragged edge. Obviously, some of these cars are going to survive at 500rwhp+, and some are going to grenade even well below 450rwhp. But my point is, done properly, I believe all of these superchargers are capable of providing over 400rwhp relatively safely, even with the varying designs.
The good news is... now we are getting more and more choices!!

Am I the only one that thinks the GT doesn't need a Supercharger? A few light mods and this thing is faster than heck..and I use to jump out of airplanes for a living

I think that the car is fine the way it is, but I miss the low end torque of the old big block muscle cars. The twin screw make the car feel like it has 400+ cubic inches uner the hood.....
And no, there is no realistic way to justify the SC, I just want one...

darn it... I want the Saleen but now it looks like I will have to wait even longer to get one... SIGH...
Anyone know if the factory warranty is voided by adding the Saleen SC? I suspect it is, but I am hoping to hear different.

You can still get it for a few days at a great price!!

That figures. Saleen was at the top of my list but just fell to the bottom. What a way to loose a ton of potential customers. Come out with a great product at a price that I can almost afford and then raise the price. The price of these SC systems is getting a little ridiculous IMO. :nono:

Careful if price is your only criteria - those are two very different systems with different characteristics.

Ok, lets break this down...
I just bought some 03 Cobra 39lb injectors from someone on svtperformance.com for $105.
Next is the Boost-a-Pump for $250.
Then finally an 8 psi pulley from JDM...$80.
So...$4370 for the Saleen kit + $435 for a grand total of $4805.
In conclusion...is the Saleen kit *really* that much more expensive (barring suckers buying it after Jan 1st, haha, jk guys...)
EDIT: CRAP! The 3.5" pulley on JDM's website isn't for the Saleen kit, so that price I listed above is probably (way) off.

Not bad! As long as you already have an XCal or Predator, and a larger MAF, you're in good shape!!
#40
Ok, to be fair...lets say the price increases $700. Well, then it's total price is $4370 + $700 + $435 = $5505. Which isn't really that bad for what ya get. You get almost as much as the KB kit. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the KB kit comes with everything I'm buying separately (smaller pulley, 39 lb injectors, BAP) plus a bigger MAF. Can anyone say how much the KB kit costs for comparison purposes?
