From L.A. to San Francisco, 90 mph prox. 21 mpg.
From San Francisco back to L.A., 78-80 mph, 22.8 mpg
Total trip miles 948.

Lots of people here have been worried about getting bad gas mileage with the 4.10's, especially over the road. My average in town is between 17.7 and 18.2.

This car performs great and still gets respectable mileage.

There are a few 130bugs on the front end to prove it!

By the way, I just realized the 22.8 was actually my r/t mileage since I didn't re-set!

This is good news, Paul! Are you running a manual or auto?

I have 4:10's ready to go in and I'm more curious what rpms I'll be turning at say 70 or 75 mph.

Thanks for the info.

Was that with stock gears or with 4.10's??
EDIT: Just noticed your signature, Thanks!

Thanks for the numbers, Paul. 4.10's are definitely in my future as well. Good to know they don't affect mileage too badly.

4.10's are sounding great. Feels like the car could use 'em. But, I'm only getting 15 mpg pure stock. Figured this was from driving hard - I'm putting ~50% highway miles at 80+ mph. Is something wrong?

I was getting 13.5 when the car was brand new (mostly city) so the break-in is important.

Clem,

I just got on the freeway and at 70 mph, rpm is 2400 and at 75 it's 2500 rpm. With stock diameter tires it would be a little less rpm's.

Wow, that's lower than I thought. I imagined more like 2600-2700 at those speeds. This is definitely good to hear. I'm really looking forward to the 4:10's, but don't want to drone myself out on the highway. This makes my day!

Thanks again!

Hmmm. Way better numbers than I would have guessed. Could be that the added RWHP is having an easier time with the '05s' frontal area.

The car seems to have issues cornering at high speed in the wind. Lots of wind on the trip back.

Might be a dumb question, but gears won't affect your tune, Correct? I don't think they will, but want to be positive. I know you will have to recalibrate the speedo, but that's simple.

You are correct, no tune issues.

I think you need to adjust for the new gear ratio so the speedo reads accurate. I have the predator and it has a setting for gear ration.
