Rims... I'm going to go competely freekin insane!

I want either: (for my 2006)

FR500's, Bullets or GT500 rims

18x10 for the rear
18x8 for the front

I've seen 18x10's and 18x9's but not 18x8's..

I want a noticable difference between front/rear.

Is it possible to put 18x10's on the rear and 17x8's on the front without having a problem?

One inch difference in front/rear shouldnt be that bad, assuming i use the same times on both. I have a friend who had a C5 and his front rims were one inch smaller. I think it came from the factory that way and he never had a problem.

I'm going for the classic muscle car look.... wide in back, skinny in front.

Also looking for performance tires that have old school raised white letters.

Any suggestions on rim problem and tires with raised white letters?

thanks
jake

theres' no problem there, except you wont be able to rotate your tires.

as far as a raised white letter performance tire, good luck with that.

The only problem with RWL tires is that currently there aren't any available with the correct speed rating.
GoodYear Eagle GTII and Firestone FireHawk Indy500 can be found in size 255/60SR17 and 265/70SR17, respectively (with RWL):

05+ Mustang GT OEM tire rating: W (168 mph = 270 km/h)
RWL tire rating: S (112 mph = 180 km/h)

I used to have a 72 Chevelle with 17x10's in back and 17x8's in front and it looked good...

Not concerned with rotating tires really... just dont want it handle like crap. (chevelle wasnt the greatest handler on the street so tires/rims really didn't matter.. hahaha)

How can you have an "old school look" with big shiny 18" rims?

I remember when 15" Cragers were "IN" and 17's were almost unheard of.

Old school look depends on your definition.... I can remember when cars were priced at under $5000, wheels were 15" because no one made 16" rubber, and cars had appropriately sized wheelwells. The wheelwells on the new car (in my opinion) are HUGE and should be filled!

Out of the 3 choices you listed, the bullitts look the most like old-school to me, but problem is everybody has them now. I don't think the FR500s look old-school at all. Have you looked at the Shelby CS67 and CS68's? To me, those look old school.

Looking now.... at the Shelby's

I don't see that many GT's so far in LA. For some reason everyone has a V6 and with the premium factory wheels.

I've seen a couple GT's in the last month or two that were fixed up but the majority of them are stock with some 18's 19's or 20's of some new "hip" rim maker...

Lemme go look at these Shelby's...

thanks everyone for the input though... it's appreciated (on all my posts)

I'm going to be moving to 18x10 bullits in the back too and it's looks like no one makes a set for the front in 18x8. I too thought about keeping the stock 17x8s up front but from what I've seen the holes in the center of the aftermarket wheels are different from the factory ones and you won't be able to get the center caps to match. Looks like 18x9s for the front is the only way to go.
