I found out the hard way last week that the JLT catch can for the 4.6 won't fit with the Ford Racing intake because the hose barb on the FRPP intake is about 1/2" lower than stock
I've seen some universal setups where people remote mounted it, so I had my own go at it. Here's my parts list:
I reused the hose connectors off the JLT kit initially, but found the braided hose to be pretty stiff and I was worried about the 90 deg turn the one on the valve cover would do as far as stress on plastic parts go. So I cannibalized the stock PCV hose for the straight connector.
And here's a better look at the fuel pump mount and how I mounted it on the CAI heat shield
A couple things I still need to do
The hose coming off the valve cover seems like its under a little stress with its stiffness and the loop it has to make, so I want to change that side's fitting on the catch can to a 90 deg setup. I just need to figure out what size the threads are. Doesn't look like NPT to me.
You can see in the close-up on the catch can that its not a perfect fit in the mount. There's about a 1/4" difference between the two. I need to put some kind of spacer in there to keep it from bouncing around.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with it! I'll see this week how much oil I start catching
Actually think I want this one. 1/2 and its Kynar which is chemical resistant. And since the speed shop specifically told me the hose had to be transmission variety ("NO HEATER HOSE, NO FUEL LINE" they said), I'd say that's a factor http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/ite...8019&catid=551
So its really between a pretty **** nice aluminum fitting you pointed out there, or go with the plastic one to match the other side. The aluminum one is close to $10, but the plastic one is $3 before shipping. They're quoting $10 shipping on that site, but I'm sure I could find it somewhere else
