Reduce Drone w/ Borla Stingers on a Daily Driver

I love the sound of my Borlas but the volume in the cabin can get quite loud. Is there any way to tone it down on the inside but maintain the same sound on the outside?

I know I can hit the search button and research but I'm tired.

C'mon Danny, don't be a wuss!

Didn't we warn you about the drone? A set of gears will get you out of the 'drone zone' at highway speeds at the same time will give you some snap on the low end.

When drone kicks in, hit the loud pedal...

I've got an off-road Prochamber and Stingers on mine.. 16 sheets of Dynamat later (trans tunnel, trunk area, rear decklid, rear seats, and side walls upto the 1/4 windows) and the drone is almost gone. I only get drone on long uphill runs.. Delaware Memorial Bridge, the Mountains in PA, etc.

Years ago I ran Borla's...with cats and without. There was drone with the cats and it got 3 times as bad without. I also ran a Prochamber with the cats and I agree it helped a bunch. But alas I went to longtubes without the cats and the Borla's killed me with the drone. I dumped them for Magnaflows and all it good for over 2 years. You need to decide what your final exhaust setup will be to determine what you final muffler set up will be. But I can't imagine that Dynamats at going to make you happy.

I agee with TacoBill- gears (3.73 or 4.10s) will get you out of the drone zone (1800'ish). I had them too... loved the sound, hated the drone. It's been a few years now and my ears are still ringing lol.

I love the sound but the drone tends to become bothersome on longer drives and such. It's not a deal breaker, just looking for suggestions. Appreciate all the thoughts.

I put in layers of this throughout the back half of the car, both the sticky mat and the foam - http://www.raamaudio.com/

It reduced the sound of the all exhaust notes as well as road noise. Drone was still there, and still the loudest sound in the car.

Drone happens with the tone from the muffler resonates with the frame and/or cabin. You can't stop it. You can't reduce it. You can only get mufflers that don't produce the tone that resonates with your car (or produces it at much smaller levels). Or you can drive outside the rpm band that causes the muffler to produce the offending tone.

I could never deal with my Stinger drone. It was so bad I knew the 1st day I had them that they were going to come off.

Any brand suggestions or a model number? I'll definitely take a look.

Vibrant is a brand. I am not sure of part numbers. Tom281 ran a set on his 06 that did a great job of killing the drone also. I can't remember the brand though. Maybe he will see this post or send him a PM. He is one of the Mods on this site.
