 Got a rearend gear whine on deacceleration. Anybody else notice this? Is there a TSB on it. What will Ford Replace. Posi isn't binding, just sounds like gears aren't matched up correctly.

Yes. My GT whines around 52-50 mph on decelleration. The GT I drove in November was worse, but this one isn't guiet. I think the backlash on the pinion gear isn't set up correctly from the sounds of the noise. If you take it in, please keep us posted. Other have had the rear end replaced for the noise.

I get some whine from my 3.90 Motive gears.

It happens at a certian speed and when I just coast (foot off accelerator).

I'm getting used to it.

I also try to avoid the noise by driving slower or faster than the speed at which it makes the noise.

I had the gear whine when coasting from 60 down to 40. Took the service manager out to hear it and they replaced the ring and pinion. Twice actually because after the first swap the service manager said he still detected some whine; from the car, not me . The whine is completely gone now so don't live with it if you don't have to. I had to give up the car for a week, but it was worth it.

Now the squeaky brakes on the other hand.......

I have a whine cruising at 60-62 mph. If I let off the gas, or accelerate, it goes away. Not that it much matters now anyway, because I can't drive at that speed with the Bassani's on . . . drone. :notnice:

Is there a thread that lists all of the TSBs on this forum? I have found a few scattered about but a sticky that lists them all and has the PDF files would be quite useful IMHO.

AAAhhhaahahahaha.

I had been to that page dozens of times but all I saw was the list of subforums. I run 1920X1600 and never scrolled down far enough. Thanks!

I have some whine with my FRPP 4.30's. The backlash is set at 10,000's, which is tight. As I understand it, The less backlash in setup you have, the noisier or more whine you'll have. The more, the quieter. Hand in hand, the less backlash, the better for racing.

B) Yep from 60 to 40mph we have gear backlash noise. A little bohtersome and definately a wear issue 50-60K from now.
:bang: It took 3 weeks to get the ring and pinion. Two weeks ago dealer replaced the ring & pinion and before we picked up they called to say it still wasn't right. They immediately ordered the entire rear end as well as bearings and seals ... should be taking it in next week for a re-do.
Good service from MOSSY Ford; not their fault for the parts delay or not initially set up properly. Just a PITA that we have to take it back again.

Not a good excuse. My 4:10 whine too. If you have not purchased do Ford Racing gears. You will be glad you did.

Took car into dealer yesterday for alignment and clutch pedal squeek and differential whine on accelerate or decelerate around 50-60 mph.

They've ordered parts for the clutch pedal and an "Axle damper kit" for the whine.

I've heard from some performance shops that it's hit or miss on the whine. Some sets of gears will whine and some won't. Luck of the draw!
