I know the estimated MPG are only about 2 mpg difference, but what are the real world results? I've put a deposit down on a GT, but coming from a Honda Civic getting 31 mpg, I don't think I could bear 15 mpg. If I can realistically get 20-22 with the Gt, I'll stay with it. I'm about 80% highway. How would the V6 compare? I've read ranges of 18 to 27 in the V6.

I've got 8 days to cancel the GT order for a full refund of the deposit. I love the car, but with two kids and a mortgage, I don't want to be TOO wasteful. As I said, I can live with 20-22 MPG, but 18 or less would be pushing it.

How bout everyone here? What's your car (V6 or GT), real world MPG, and driving mix (% highway/city)?

05 Mustang V6 - lightly modded getting 23mpg
65% local fwy and 35% streets

06 V6 Mustang, under 2500 miles. I'm getting around 27 MPG, mix of city and highway travel for my commute. I am really happy with it's mileage. I used to drive a Jeep Wrangler, and a good tank would get 16mpg. I didn't buy the stang for mileage, obviously, but seeing that 27 MPG has been quite a nice little bonus!!

Edited to add: Manual Transmission

well im getting about 265/full tank with my 05 GT....almost 8000 miles....and i only have the flowmaster mufflers i havent put on my midpipe and those dont do anything for milage. only thing was the computer had a problem recognizing them at 1st

06 GT.........21MPG 50/50 mix hwy,city

Galaxie 1/5/06 07:25 PM

Probably the best person to comment on this is Donna, she has owned both a V6 and a GT

I personally averaged about 22MPG 50/50 city/highway taking it easy on the gas, that's in a GT

05 cayuse 1/5/06 07:25 PM

I have an 05 V6, and average 25 mpg. This is based on a 50/50 city/hwy driving. I only have 2200 miles on it.

05 gt with cai and tune.I drive 84 miles rt to work all highway and get 20 mpg. Also cruise set on 80. With the tune in it hard to stay off the gas!!!Best mpg was 22 when I drove it like an old man.

CurtisH 1/5/06 08:03 PM

I've got a little over 13,500 miles on my 05 GT. Average gas mileage is 20.61 mpg. That's about 60/40 city/hwy driving. I do not really drive it hard. I do "enjoy" the power once in a while. :)

Donna 1/5/06 08:19 PM

Theres really not much difference. I averaged around 25 mpg in the V6 and I average around 22 in the GT. The V6 was a automatic and the GT is a manual.

I get 18 mpg in my GT auto. Thats bone stock. But I drive like an idiot sometimes. Plus my commute to school is mainly stop and go on the freeway. I think its easy to get 20.

NJ3 1/5/06 08:31 PM

I am getting 19 mpg 60/40 city/hwy driving with my 06 GT, when I baby it I'll get 21 mpg.

firststang 1/5/06 08:40 PM

I was getting 19 driving 95% city, though I take it pretty easy on her the majority of the time (few open roads to open her up). On some trips of mostly highway I have seen as much as 24 mpg doing 80-85 with cruise set. All is stock on 87 octane.

TexaStang 1/5/06 08:44 PM

I have a tune and a manual GT, around 23-25ish on the highway at 70-80

Highway/city @ 60/40 around 20.5mpg. I have a lead foot however.

atomic_il 1/5/06 09:04 PM

I get like 16mpg in my GT with a brenspeed tune. Then again, I rarely drive on anything outside the city.

1NewStang 1/5/06 09:40 PM

I'm at about 17 mpg but i'm at about 70% city 30% highway.. average about 30 mph in speed per tank..I've taken some long trips all highway and I'm getting anywhere from 24 to 27 mpg :-D

dleal00 1/5/06 09:43 PM

2006 V6 and my avg is 15.1 MPG. My driving is about 90% City and 10% Highway. My average speed is also 25 MPH.

Boltzman 1/5/06 09:56 PM

Gt auto-18.3 mpg....mainly city driving(Very conservative)

DANNY 1/5/06 10:00 PM

I have a 05 gt auto and get 19 to 24 in the city and 27.+ to 28.+ on the highway.

BEACHBOY 1/5/06 10:15 PM

Last time I really checked the mpg was Christmas Eve on a road trip to my Grandmothers. Averaged about 25 mpg mainly all highway Rt58 and I 95. I have a 05 GT auto with 7,200 miles on her after a little over a year of ownership.
