Raptor Shift Light Install Questions
My Raptor shift light arrived today and thinking it would be a 15 minute install, I had to try after I put the kids to bed.
Pulled the center console piece out and mounted the actual light--piece of cake.
Then, following the instructions for the '05+ here: http://www.raptorperformance.com/Ford/Must...ustang_2005.htm
I tried routing the cable through the grommet in the firewall. I used an electrician's snake and could not work it through for the life of me. Is it necessary to make a new hole in the grommet? Also, it looks like you have to put the car on ramps to actually see where it feeds through the grommet into the engine bay (somewhere under the brake booster/master cylinder).
Also, for the coil driver, does it matter which wire you tap on one of the drivers? My coil driver wires are different in color compared to the one pictured on the Raptor instructions.
Last, which (+) wire did you actually tap into in the wire loom off the fuse box?
Thanks in advance for any tips! :drive:

I assume you are going through the firewall on the drivers side since you said it comes out under the brake booster, correct? I know the gromet you are talking about. I taped the wire to the end of a small flat blade screw driver, poked it through the gromet. Then reached down between the brake booster and the fender well and pulled the tape off and grabbed the wire and pulled it through. Went back in the car and pulled the screw driver out and the rubber closed up around the screw driver. No reason to get under the car at all.
As for the hookup. Which cylinder are you going to? I went to # 8. Passengers side of the car closest to the cockpit. It is a green wire just like in the installation instruction picture.
For the power I just picked the same switched +12v wire that supplies power to my radio. Didn't see the need to run yet another wire across the entire car.
Where exactly did you mount your light? Have a picture? I went with the SOS gauge pod w/Raptor Claw on mine.

I mounted it where Raptor did on their website. I'll post pics when I have a chance. It isn't directly in my line of site, but since this thing will probably be as bright as the sun (so many LED's!!!), I don't think visibility will be an issue. I thought about the vent mount (like many did on previous year mustangs), but decided against that location.
I promise ya, it is "bright as the sun" without the cap on it.
You could tap in to your radio power wire, or your amp power wire, or your traction control switch wire, or just about anything in the cabin. Pretty much anything you look at in there is switched +12v
