i used the search feature to try and answer my question but couldnt find anything related to these two detectors...also mods feel free to move if this is the wrong forum.
im considering the purchase of a radar detector and after doing research im trying to decide between a BEL Express 925 and a Whistler 1743. The Bel is like $85 including shipping on ebay and the whistler is about that much at my local best buy. im not looking to spend more than $100. radartest.com ranks the bel 925 as the best detector under 100 and close to the V1 in performance. they also rank the whistler 1734 pretty high and the 1743 would be about the same i guess.
if anyone has experience with either of these detectors i would really appreciate your input. thanks...

Passport X50 rocks... its more expensive than the BEL or Whistler, much more reliable, and much less expensive than the V1.

After reading an article on comparisons I opted for the Whistler Pro 73.
It is fantastic! I love it so much I bought two.
Works like magic.

if you get a good detector you will be happy. if you GET A V1, you will be HAPPIER. trust me the arrows are worth the extra cash, as well as the highly tuned and simple to operate nature of the best detector on the market. i drive fast, i owe my lack of tix and jailtime solely to the V1 (and good glasses).

Sorry to hear that! I'm guessing he was likely using INSTANT-ON (shooting a fast burst at the passing car and then shutting off). That'll be darn difficult to catch with anything since the signal burst is short, focused, and being shot perpendicular to the target.
It stinks that Indiana allows cops to hide with radar guns. Out here at least the law requires that the police car be visible from the road. This gives yet another means of defending yourself against the possibility of being victimized. Sadly I guess it also goes to prove that the only sure fire way to defend yourself against getting tickets is to NOT drive like Speed Racer!!

70 Zone on I 24. I was going much faster but only had enough money to pay for an 85 and the fifteen he allowed me to keep for lunch. Was rushing to get back to STL because I was scheduled for surgery the next day. Last yrar I was in a barber shop then all tell broke loose. Cop pulled up with siren going full out and he jumped out of the car and ran in the shop. He was late for his haircut appointment I don't think it would k if we put a red lite on top of our stangs. LOL.
