As I said, please forgive my ignorance on this matter.
I would like to know what is the difference between the Magnaflow part # 15881 and # 15883. Both are catback exhausts for the 05 Mustang, both priced the same (I think around 536 dollars...), part #15883 has a reference to "Magnapacks", which #15881 does not.
I know that for most of you (hopefully not ALL of you...) this might sound a little stupid, but I honestly don't know the difference between these two parts.
Can anyone tell me, please ?
Thank you.

Depends on where you live. I am in Canada and as far as I know are legal no matter where in Canada you live. I had the magnaflows installed and then went to the magnapaks. I like the sound of the paks better but I must say, now that I have put on over 5,000 miles on the paks they are a lot louder now than when I first installed them.

I looked at the site. I noticed the cat back system seems to delete the factory "H" Pipe and replace it with two seperate pipes.

Isn't it better to have an "H" Pipe rather than two seperate pipes. Since they are the size diameter, why buy a cat back system (Unless you get an "X" Pipe with the new system)?

Not sure I understand what you mean. I installed the cat back system. You don't touch the H pipe. The pipes that come with the cat back connect to the H pipe.

The Magnaflow systems are not true catbacks. Their "catbacks" are actually from the mid-pipe back. You have to buy the Magnaflow x-pipe (w/ or w/out cats) to replace your mid-pipe.

That explains it.

I guess I took the term "Cat Back" literally. I thought the system replaced everything from the "Cats" back.

Is there a reason to spend the extra money for the cat back system? Aren't they the same dia as the stock pipes?

Less bends. When I had the factory ones out I compared them to the Magnaflow ones, quite a difference.

Thanks. I have been here for almost a year, and I am still asking questions like a newbie. I am just glad I am not afraid to ask. That way I can learn more and find more things I want to buy.

I think they are legal as well around here, but will check that out with a dealer just to be safe.
When you say "a lot louder" what do you mean ? I am asking this because I like having an exhaust that sounds a bit loud...but definitely not to a level where it could be bothering for example in a long trip (as I do have to accomodate the wishes of my wife too...at least a bit...)...

well then you do not want the magnapaks. There is alot of drone around the 1900 rpm range. Even the magnaflows have some drone. You can carry on a conversation but it is noticable.

Sorry if I seem to ask many questions...but I wanna understand very clearly before I shell out the dough...
When you say "noticeable", do you mean you almost need to scream to have a conversation or need to put the radio to a level where they could almost hear you on planet Mars or something a bit milder (hopefully...eheheh) than that ?
Also, the moment where it's more touchy for me it's ... cruisin' mode (freeway, steady speed or at least almost) ... in long trips (therefore with my wife sitting in it and hopefully not complaining about the noise level)... not when just going around (there i'd love to hear the V8 like it's the devil coming out of heck with a bad case of total rage) in town...

My magnapacks are fine on the highway. Cruising they don't bother me at all. WOT is when they get REALLY loud.
