I keep seeing people justify getting a V6 over a V8, and then suggesting with a mod or 2, it being faster than the GT. One guy said on another forum, that he put in 4.10s on his V6 and that alone he can't dust a GT. I have no problem with V6s. I used to have one, but common. 1 cheap mod like that cannot negate a bigger engine, can it? The only mod I thought might make a difference is a S/Cer.

What you guys think?

I agree, I don't think a set of rear gears would do it by any means. You might get a little quicker off the line, but V8 torque would quickly devour any slight advantage the re-geared V6 had.

A super charger would probably get you competitive at the end of a run, but V8 torque will still get you at the front end. IMHO.

Hmm....first let me say I have a GT. Second, I think the V6's are just as great...I have no piston envy.

Hmm...a V6 with 210hp that has CAI, JBA exhaust, Tune/Flash, and 4:10 gears driven by someone who *knows* what they're doing could keep up or beat a *stock* GT (modded V6 would be in the 250-260hp with 4:10's would hook up very nice)

If this is a dig to rekindle the V6 vs V8 race....stop...now. People buy what they want or can afford.

hmmm, I the only way I can see a v6 competing in a race with a GT would be to slap a turbo or supercharge onto the v6 and keep the GT stock. The way I see it, you would have to invest quite a bit in mods for a V6 to beat a GT, then the guy with a GT would only have to invest a little to spank the V6 again.

well... i think you have to stop and ask yourself... are you going to end up spending the same amount on mods that it would have cost you to just upgrade to a GT and have the same power in the first place? in most cases yes.... so i don't see the point.

If you are going to have a *heavily* modified car, i think that the base should be a GT.

By no means do I want another thread that goes "V6 vs V8". Just kinda bugged me when i saw V6 + 4.10 gears = V6 winner. Got nothing against V6's. They're great cars. Used to have one. Thanks for your input, everyone!

And very bad for a *stock* 4.0L V6 engine, you'll tear the pistons apart. you need to modify that engine somewhat to handle that much juice.

Ask Kev V6 - I love the 6s just like the GTs... they are all 05 Stang!

As for that guy from that other forum - all he did was install gears? And he DUSTED a GT?....

The only way he did that is if he used a California Car Duster........

No comparison with a V6 with 4.20s and a stock GT, mod the 6 up with a s/c, gears, bored heads, etc. and you got yourself a good 6, but was it worth all the moeny that you just put into the 6 when you coulldv'e gotten a GT with different gear setting to being with and additional performance features that the 6 came without?? I highly doubt !! I love ALL Mustangs, I'm not one of those guys who loves on V8s'.

even if those mods could make it as fast as a GT, why bother the cost would be the same as buying the GT and not modding it, and if you do mod it then you have a better platform to work with....go GT.

I don't remember ever seeing anyone saying that a V6 can be faster than the GT with "a mod or two."
Can you link to where you saw this? I'd be very interested in seeing this.

Who said anything about longevity?
