Question about new tuner

Hey guys, I just received a new SCT tuner from American Muscle for Christmas and my dad said I need to call in and receive customs tunes. I knew that was the case, but I was wondering if they put any tunes on the device for stock cars? Meaning is there any tunes already in the tuner that I could flash? My car is completely stock except for axle back exhaust. thanks in advance. Happy holidays to everyone as well.

Depending on what tuner you have, it may or may not come with tunes. Most that come with tunes have three free ones (from what I've seen) others you'll just have to buy. Go over your owners manual or call Americanmuscle.com. They are REALLY good with any questions. And if the person you're talking to doesn't know the answer they get a specialist that does

This is the one I got:
http://www.americanmuscle.com/x3-cus...er-0510gt.html

Not sure if it comes with basic tunes preinstalled or what. Nothing else came in the box from american muscle as far as manuals.

i`m pretty sure the sf3 does have some generic tunes, 3 of them. pl;ug it into your car( with the key off) and follow the prompts. the sct tuner is a great tool and the custom tunes really rock

Okay, thanks for the response. I'll give that a try.

Just curious, when does it back up my stock settings? I watched the videos ans they say it backs up for you. Does it do that when I flash the tune? Also it had "strategy tune" I could go under then it had custom tunes. I'm guessing for the generic go to strategy tunes. I'm just wondering about backing up stock settings.

It stores the stock tune before it loads the new tune.

It should come with 3 tunes. Plus it has FREE tunes for life, just download a bunch and keep a few on it at a time that you like the best!

they will get them to you pretty fast. its better that they are emailed to ya, cause you can save them on your computer ( i keep mine right on the desktop) but its a good idea to save them to a flash drive or disk too. that way you`ll have them if your comp crashes.

you`ll have to download the device updater program from the sct site, than you`ll run that program, plug your tuner into your computer with a printer cable, and load the custom tunes onto the tuner. then the best part, off to the car. once you run the race tune in your car, you most likely wont want to change it i run the 93 but keep a 91 on the tuner in case i get stuck and cant get 93 as its hard to come by around here.

Oh yeah that's true. But thanks for the response, now I have an idea of what to do when they come. I got 87,87,91. I'll see how those are for now. My car is my daily so I don't want to have worry about putting in higher octane all the time but definitely will be using it here an there.

Change the time? I'm guessing you meant tune, but from the videos I've watched its like a couple minutes.

Yes sorry, tune. I've been chatting with AM's Chris rose on here an he said that most things won't NEED a tune. You can just swap out the bolt on and the sensors will adjust your ratios, but he also said the Bama tuner was phenomenal! An that it would make your pony scream! And I want to get one but I also want to know how people like it. So, if you don't mind telling me about yours once you get to use it that would be awesome!

Race tune will blow the others out of the water. Be sure you run your tank of 87 down low as you can, then fill it with 93, drive around awhile, them flash the car. I did it that way, no troubles.

Just received my email with my tunes. Flashed them, and wow! Pretty big difference! Going from 1st to 2nd I noticed the tires were having trouble with traction. I'm impressed, and that's with a 87 street tune.

That's my exact plan. Can't wait. Should happen a little later today. Reset to stock first right?
