question about M/T E.T. streets
i know m/t advises to use tubes in the e.t. streets but has anyone run them tubeless. i ran the e.t. drags tubeless but had the tires screwed to the rims as per m/t tech dept. that car had much more power than this one so i was wondering if i even had to screw them to the wheels. i think the natural rubber tubes are about 7-10 lbs each. the tire only weighs 20lbs. to start with. any help?
The reason for using tubes is for consistancy sake, the air pressure within the tire tends to decrease as the walls wrinkle without tubes. I wouldnt use screws unless you are pushing much more power to the ground.
Also, you want to keep that unsprung weight as light as possible. By adding the weight of a single tube within the tire its like adding 70+lbs to the whole of the car.
Just keep a watchful eye on your tire pressure while at the track when not using tubes.

If you're using the #3743 26X11.50-17LT ET Street it is shown as a tubeless tire on the Mickey thompson website.

Since he just got his 15" Bogart wheels recently, I'm guessing he won't be using the 17" tires. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif[/img]
If/when I switch to 15" wheels, I plan on using both tubes and screws on mine should I decide to go with the biasply ET Streets. The few extra pounds will be offset by a lot more piece of mind.

I'm useing the 15" M/T radials which are tubeless. The radials are supposed to work better on an auto car. I havn't tried both so I have no comparison. The wrinkle wall tires should be screwed to the rims. Not only will the screws keep the wheel from moving in the rim. It will also keep the bead from seperating from the rim if you get sideways.

yeah i think i'm going to just use the screws and go tubeless. i just got my tires today(valentines present
)! awesome. et fronts 26x4.5 and rear et street 26x11.50. it is showing the tire as a "tube type"
but i never ran tubes in my other cars with m/t drags or hoosier/goodyears. all were screwed to the rim to keep the bead sealed. i've heard the goodyear doesn't require screws anymore. the tire is allowed to slip on the rim about 1/2" or so then it seats in and locks it's self. i don't know if i would try that with brand new wheels and tires and a 6 month old car. even though this car is much slower about (50-60mph) than my others i still don't want to crash it. 100 mph into a wall is still going to hurt really bad.
