Has anyone gotten some blue smoke from their cars on startup after the car sits for a few hours? I've noticed it a few times now, just a few minutes ago I moved the car and it smoked like crazy for the first few seconds. I think I've seen someone else mention this before and it may have been normal. '05 GT automatic with just under 14k on it.

blue smoke is usually oil related, white smoke is usually antifreeze related or moisture, and black smoke is usually from running too rich. So keep an eye on it as well as consumption of oil if any. good luck

I am a mechanic, previously worked at a Ford dealer, never noticed any kind of service messeges or bulletins about this. I'm just looking to see how common this little issue is and if anyone has had anything done about it. I will take the car in for a little warranty work the next time the airbag light decides to act up and will have them look at the smoke issue at the same time.

Same here, I think it's normal. My car doesn't consume any Mobil One, so it must very minute.

For what it is worth -

When I picked mine up (it had 1.7 miles on it) it smoked like crazy at idle for the first 5 minutes. Looked like a mosquito fogger. Had me concerned. Rings were not seated. Drove it 20 miles home and it has not smoked since. Start ups are smoke-free. Right at 3K miles now.

5500 miles on mine and it smokes a little on startup after sitting for a few days. I'glad to see this thread since I was wondering if it was anything to be worried about. Oil level is normal.

Any of you having this problem...did you have an exhaust installed recently?

Mine is all stock, no aftermarket parts at all. It only happens once in a while and I haven't noticed any oil level reduction.

Correction - I started mine yesterday after it sat for a week, and there was a little smoke on startup. Never noticed it before...
