HOLY MOTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4.8-4.9sec 0-60mph for the 5-speed GT is INSANE!!!!! :worship: :worship:

We were predicting 5.2sec.

I'm trying not to get too excited before we can confirm this.......

They also expected the manual to run a 4.8-4.9 to 60.
Oh yeah!

B)

That about covers it.

What are the newer Camaro Z28's and SS's running? I know 4.8-4.9 should handily beat a Z28, but will it match the SS? If so, the F-body boys no longer have ANYTHING to brag about.

I personally can't afford a GT right now, but I can't wait until people start modding this 4.6L 3V. I am so excited I just can't stand it. I have been taking from my F-body friends since 1993, and nice to be able to sit back and be like "what'ca got now"

The '03 Cobra turned out to be more amazing than we thought after it came out, and I think the '05 GT will be the same way. Just wait til some one hits up a GT with a supercharger.....it is a good time to be a Mustang guy. Thank you Ford, thank you.

from the few online magazines that had camaro SS numbers, they said a little over 5 seconds for the 0-60

Man, that rocks. F-bodies are now in the dust, and now all we have to compare to is the upcoming 400hp GTO. Although, even that is a good $10k more than a GT.

Also consider this, that is on pirelli m/s tires. MUD & SNOW tires come stock on the GT, only in Michigan I guess. Just think about what slicks can do to lower that 1/4 mile time!

Its been easy to tell myself to wait until 06 to get stang, but as the moment draws near (especially given those performance #s) it's getting harder and harder to resist the temptation to order one.

This will only get worse, once guys start posting their pictures of their stangs.

With those #s, who needs a special edition. Just for comparison of what 0-60 in say 4.85 seconds is in the company of:

04 SVT Mustang Cobra (Car&Driver April 03) 0-60 in 4.6
03 SVT Mustang Cobra (16 Dec 5.0 Mag) 0-60 in 4.82
00 Mustang Cobra R (16 Dec 5.0 Mag) 0-60 in 4.82)

1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 0-60 4.90 s
1999 Chevrolet Corvette LS1 Hardtop 0-60 5.00 s
2002 Porsche 911 Targa 0-60 5.00 s
2001 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra 0-60 5.16 s
2004 Pontiac GTO 5.7 0-60 5.17 s
2003 Ford Mustang Mach 1 0-60 5.29 s (0-60 in 5.2 in Road&Track)

Data after the space taken from http://www.car-videos.com/performance/spee...ed1=0&Speed2=60

If these 0-60 #s are right for the 05 GT then this is one fast car for an incredibly low price (plus it looks awesome)

My poor heart can't take this anymore.

An auto running 13.6 sec....... a time quicker than many on here would have guessed for the 5-speed!

It has come by total surprise as a lot of people here said it felt slower than the Mach 1 and 01 Cobra. Based on these numbers, its quicker than both. I mean, quicker than a Mach 1........can you guys fathom that!

AFBLUE is right, this IS a special edition. A lot of guys on here know that at the beginning I had my heart set on a Mach 1 variant for the 05. I've driven a few Machs and they haul! I needed Mach 1 performance.
As time passed, I figured that we'd get close to that, but not surpass it. This new information is unbelieveable.

Ford deserves a lot of credit here. They stepped up to the plate even though they didn't have to compete against a Camaro anymore.

AFBLUE, your stats are truely amazing. To think that this car is on par or faster than a 99 Vette, GTO, 01 Cobra, Mach 1 and only 0.2-0.3 seconds off an 04 Cobra is truely impressive.

I've driven the Cobra, it is a beast. But 0.2-0.3 seconds is pretty darn close to that.

Remember way back when someone said it was about a second quicker than the current GT in the quarter and everyone called BS. Well, it looks like it'll be about 0.8sec quicker. Poor guy was right.

What a bargain at $25,000... I still can't get over these factory numbers. I'm wondering just how underrated it truly is now. :headbang:

Why do I have a feeling that Badandy's post will not be well received?

FYI. Back in December, guys on here posted info and pictures from the MOTORTREND article on the 05 Stang about a week before it showed up on news stands

Because you are probably right

I just thought that it wasn't out, and they wouldn't let info out until October 1.

My bad, no need to jump on me.

Its not supposed to be on on the shelf till the 1st, but has to be delivered and all that by then.
I used to get the MT way ahead of anyone as the store owner put it out the day he got them (and he's not the only one)

+ on delivery to the mailbox, its usually out a week prior.

Plus the article is typed out in the other thread.

Maybe it's all a big conspiracy created by NASA...

You know we never went to the moon, either.
