QA1 coilovers
I hear that there are QA1 coilovers available for the 05 now. I've never done anything with performance shocks before. I'm just trying to learn what I can about drag shocks overall and about QA1's, which are supposed to be the best out there. I pretty much know it'll stiffen the rear. With my new upper 3rd link, my car squats hard and fully loads the front suspension. I assume, the shocks will stiffen the rear, keeping the car more level and moving forward? I appreciate any info!
Wow, I haven't had any wheel hop at all. I was just looking to keep the car a bit more level at launch instead of it squatting so hard. Squatting hard makes it a bit more difficult to through it into 2nd when your thrown back. I love having this sort of issue though.
My mechanic told me these were available. I saw a thread on Stangnet (I think) about them. Stangnet is down or not working properly right now. As soon as I can get on there, I'll post the thread link.
edit: I see that JDM has some on there car. I also found some being sold by BMR fabrication as well.

link to a bit of info on these. JDM is selling these already.
What's involved in installing these?

The install is about as easy as it gets (a couple bolts), Not sure that I would buy the ones from JDM though. You could get the same thing from BMR for 300.00 or for 200.00 more get the dual adjustable ones. The advantage to the dual is you can adjust the compression and rebound rates separately.
I just went to QA1 website and download their catalog; on page 51 they have the part number that BMR has listed for the single adjustable unit.
Summitracing sells them for 139.95 ea. (mu7855p) I would probably call QA1 just to make sure they fit but the listing matches BMR's
The dual adjustables are 277.69 from summit.

I figured it was an easy install. I've changed shocks on a jeep I used to have, although not a coil over. So when I go to install, our cars have a shock and a spring, but seperate? The coil over is the shock and coil in one unit-correct? Does the stock spring just get removed and the coil over installs in place of the shock? I'm new to the later model suspension stuff. I've never dealt with coil overs before. Just trying to get myself edumacated! Thanks on the info as far as pricing. I haven't gotten to the pricing yet. I will shop around and check on applications. I'm going to see if my mechanic can get them cheaper for me. Then again, he'll have his mark-up-I'm sure.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I talked with JDM today. Gordon, you beat me to it. Their set up is not a coil over. A buddy was telling me I should go with coil over's if there is a quality coil over available. He's checking with some manuf. to see what he can drum up. JDM wants $389/pair for the shocks alone. I was wishing to order some today and have them installed by the weekend.
If you are drag racing, why would you want to prevent the rear from squating? That is what you want it to do! The whole idea is to get the weight transfered over the rear tires upon launching the car, not coming out of the hole "level" as you put it.
